Don't see the Steelers winning this game but I hope they surpise me.

I agree, I don't see us winning this game. Traditionally we've given them fits, but they are on the rise and we are in the doldrums. An upset would be a beautiful thing though.

Once Tomlin gets his winning season, he takes the rest off.

Yeah I don't see it being a good outcome either. However somehow Steelers-Ravens always ends up being a close game. Also it's gonna be quite cold and possibly snowy too. Barring some miracle though I don't see any way we don't go one and done again

At this point right now. The way I feel about this team and Tomlin I'd just as soon watch paint dry. I will tune in telling myself if we are down by 14 or more at halftime I'll turn it off. I wouldn't put it past Hairball to run up the score just because it's us and he's an ASSHOLE. The only way we win this game is if we bounce Jackson around like a pinball but as much as it pains me to admit it that dude is seriously good. I'm pretty sure we'll all be wondering how it could get any worse. Then after we lose we find out Tomlin's job is safe but they fire Pete the janitor.

Not going to watch and subject myself to it. I hope they win, but I know they won't. Seen enough these past four weeks, this team is a lifeless, dysfunctional mess.

I will watch it just because I am a glutton for punishment.
I have said it often here that nothing is gonna change. Arthur Smith might take a HC job but whoever they find as a replacement is gonna get told that they need to run the ball and eat up ToP like the last decade not much will change. On the defensive side they might fire Austin but I doubt it. Even if they do they won't bring in anyone that will scheme better because Tomlin has his fingers all over the Defense. Of course Tomlin isn't going anywhere so the mediocre 1 and done in the playoffs will continue.

Coach .501 one and done. I'll watch the game just because it's the Steelers. Who's going to be Tomlins scapegoat this year? One of the coordinators, Wilson? Who Because we know Mr. .501 can do no wrong
Now watch them accidentally win this game.

I'm definitely watching. I am ADDICTED to Steeler football. Have been all my life since I was 5 years old. Doesn't matter what the expectations are or how good or how bad we are, if the Steelers are on I HAVE to see it.
Go Steelers!

I'll speak for myself GR. Sometimes I have to wonder if I'm addicted or just plain stupid. I went to Sam's and got buffalo wings so now I have to watch it. I will say my expectations are low low. Is it time for the NFL to hand out participation trophies?

I'm secretly hoping my overt negativity ends up with them winning. I feel like they usually win when I'm being a downer, and when I get my hopes up they lose

What I'm hoping for is a hard fought AFCN battle ending in a win for us. What I'm expecting is an ASS whoopin' of epic proportions with us holding the bag. Hairball has a chance to stick it to Tomlin and he will no doubt coach to try to end Tomlin's reign in Pittsburgh. I will say this. If the loss ends the STANDARD I'm OK with a one and done.

Ravens report: No. 1 WR Zay Flowers won’t play but No. 2 RB Justice Hill will return vs. Steelers
Subject: Re: Steelers vs Ravens Saturday 8:00pm Amazon Prime Video Fri Jan 10, 2025 8:59 pm
Well I spent about 10 minutes finely crafting an opinion and then all of a sudden this site went away and spam replaced it. So I lost all of that. UGH!
Anyway, here goes:
If Tampa traded for Tomlin, he could possibly win a Super Bowl there. They have a LOT of pieces in place, starting at the top with Baker. Steelers just DON’T. QB situation is murky. Russell is NOT that guy anymore. Fields - I love Fields - but if he were the guy he’d be starting. There’s no 1st-round-worthy QB in the draft. Cam Ward could potentially make a liar of me, he’s got the temperament but needs development. Sanders is a hard NO. “Daddy-bust” written all over him. Milroe Please NO.
Unless a sleeper QB develops, but that’s probably a few years away. Will Howard out of Ohio State has looked the part recently. Rourke out of Indiana possibly.
Long shots though. More likely not than so.
Regarding the trade: Definitely not happening. Steelers don’t operate that way. IF they were, probably also trading Watt, tearing down a lot and rebuilding with the draft. Future head coach? Johnson, OC, Lions, would be high on my list. Marcus Freeman out of Notre Dame is terrific. Saw him completely outcoach Kirby Smart in round 1.
Marcus probably isn’t going to the NFL though, and a college coach doesn’t always transition well to the NFL anyway.
This team needs a LOT, not just at QB.
WR is a mess. Pickens is one of the most talented AND immature in the entire league, all at the same time. I don’t know that he’s ever growing out of it. Calvin is finally emerging.
WR coach should be fired before the paint dries on the season. He is NOT getting the most out of them, NOT elevating their game. Simple things like working back to a scrambling QB, that you’d expect your high school athletes to do.
Without an elite QB, your odds of winning a Super Bowl- no matter the coach - are practically NIL. We do not have that and are probably at least 2 years (or 3) away from having that. By that time, Cam will be retired, Watt will be retired or close to it.
First round is probably going to be receiver. Egbuka out of Ohio State possibly. Burden (Missouri). Others.
3rd round, RB to replace Najee who is gone as soon as the season ends. Kaleb Johnson out of Iowa fits the profile. Big bruising back, like Najee, to complement Jaylen Warren.
2nd round - run stuffer? Certainly trenches.

I'd go with 1. Tacario Davis, CB, Arizona 2. Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa 3. Earnest Greene, OT, Georgia 4. Kurtis Rourke, QB, Indiana 5. Aeneas Peebles, DL, Virginia Tech 5. Micah Pettus, OT, Ole Miss 7. Kaimon Rucker, EDGE, North Carolina
Superbowl draft man could be better then the 1974 draft and we haven't even brought up the undrafted free agents.

Interesting take on the draft. Rourke in the 4th is definitely a possibility, what about WR though? I think we are in desperate need of a high level WR that can contribute right away, and that means probably a first round pick.

Just not enough draft spots to fill all the holes imho if you need a WR who can play right away then offseason free agent pick up and maybe a trade of Pickens.
An excellent year to need a receiver: Teams will have a glut of talent available at wideout, including Tee Higgins, Chris Godwin and Stefon Diggs.
Free Agent Wide Receiver
Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Amari Cooper, Buffalo Bills Stefon Diggs, Houston Texans DeAndre Hopkins, Kansas City Chiefs Diontae Johnson, Baltimore Ravens Darius Slayton, New York Giants Keenan Allen, Chicago Bears Demarcus Robinson, Los Angeles Rams Joshua Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers
Take your pick which one you like?

I'd start wit the coaching staff. With a top 5 talent at WR, why is it the steelers seems to have the recurring problem with attitude. Why is it that other teams with that same talent aren't having the same "attitude" problems? Is it the players, the atmosphere, lack of discipline, bad coaching? If it's a little bit of all the above, we know where the problem begins. It's just like ground hog day for the last decade. But hey, no losing season. At least Bill Murray learned from his mistakes.
My drunk post for the night.

Mike Tomlin graduated from the College of William and Mary with a sociology degree might be a reason. I've been around that mumbo jumbo before, spoiled meatheads player types don't care about just want money and fame most are short sighted can't see or doesn't trust long term plans. Just a throught

Because we always draft talented WR's who drop in the draft because of their attitude problems. AB, Martavis Bryant, Claypool and Pickens were all known for their attitude problems and that's why a lot of teams took them off their draft board. To be fair to Tomlin he relatively keeps them in check until the problem becomes too big. Then nothing can save these WR's anymore, not even another environment. After they've left the Steelers their production diminishes and they're out of the league pretty fast. I'm curious what will happen with Pickens when he's on another team. History doesn't bode well for him.
