Ike Taylor knows the highs and lows of playing cornerback in the NFL, the one position on defense where you can be the dart one minute, and dartboard the next.
He's riding a high right now, has been for a while. He signed a big, new contract just before camp started, and now he has allowed just one pass completion over him in two games even though he has been tailing the opponents' top receiver each game and playing with a cast on his broken left thumb.
But Taylor knows how quickly things can change, as they did the previous time he got a big, new contract. The Steelers won the Super Bowl after the 2005 season when coach Bill Cowher began assigning Taylor to the opponents' top receivers, starting with Chad Johnson in Cincinnati. Then, in '06, the Steelers gave Taylor his first big contract.
And then Cowher benched him. It happened Nov. 26 at Baltimore when he did not start and it lasted for the next five games. Cowher replaced Taylor with ... Bryant McFadden. It was distasteful to him.
"I wish that on nobody, what I went through," Taylor said.

I think Taylor's play in the first two games has been largely overlooked. He's been a beast. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

He's good and all for now but when you stack him up against the competition on that roster, he just can't carry some of those guys' jock straps. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!
