Steelers Injury Update: Woodley out, Ward given ‘ok’
AUTHOR: Craig

Ward is cleared for Sunday against the Bengals.

The roster for Sunday’s game became a bit more clearer today after practice. LaMarr Woodley will be out for the second straight Sunday with a bothersome hamstring injury he sustained against the Patriots. Ward, who suffered a concussion from a hit by Ray Lewis this past Sunday, is currently passing all of his concussion tests. He will more than likely be able to play on Sunday, though it is unclear if he will be starting over the younger healthier receivers.

Other Steelers who are on the probable list: Troy Polamalu (rib) and James Harrison (toe). It’s clear that the Steelers suffer when Woodley is not in the lineup. Even though Harrison had a break out return with two sacks on Joe Flacco, it was clear that the Steelers struggled to continually get pressure on Flacco, especially as the game closed out – although that was more LeBeau’s and the secondary’s fault than the LB’s. Harrison will need to continue his strong return, and Worlids and Farrior will need to continue strong play since Woodley’s exit if the Steelers expect any chance in winning this Sunday’s game. As is the trend with Flacco, so too does Dalton buckle under pressure from defensive blitzes.

Steelers LB Woodley to miss second straight game
NFL.com
Published: Nov. 11, 2011 at 01:21 p.m. Updated: Nov. 11, 2011 at 06:17 p.m.

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu is expected to be ready to face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The outlook isn't as good for linebacker LaMarr Woodley.

Woodley was ruled out by the Steelers on Friday and will miss his second straight game with a hamstring injury. He is expected to return after the team's bye week, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The Post-Gazette reported Friday that Polamalu returned to practice and will start against the Bengals after missing the last two days of practice with a rib injury.

The Steelers listed Polamalu as probable, along with wide receivers Jerricho Cotchery (knee) and Hines Ward (head). :inebackers James Farrior (calf), Jerome Harrison (toe) and Stevenson Sylvester (knee); and guard Doug Legursky (toe) are also probable.

LaMarr Woodley to miss Bengals game
Associated Press

PITTSBURGH -- Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley will miss his second straight game because of a hamstring injury, and linebacker James Farrior likely will be back for Sunday's AFC North showdown in Cincinnati.

AFC North blog
ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley writes about all things AFC North in his division blog.

• Blog network: NFL Nation

Woodley was ruled out Friday after not practicing all week. Farrior was designated as probable after practicing for the third consecutive day. Farrior missed Pittsburgh's last two games with a calf injury. Backup Larry Foote indicated he expected to come off the bench again.

Also probable for Pittsburgh (6-3) against the Bengals (6-2) are two of the past three AP defensive players of the year, safety Troy Polamalu (rib) and linebacker James Harrison (toe). Polamalu returned to practice Friday, and Harrison was a full participant after being limited Thursday.

I'm really liking our WR depth and the cotchery signing has proven to be a very good one.

Not sure if getting farrior back will be that huge, this year, Foote has outplayed him IMO.

Worilds needs to step up if he ever wants to be anything on this team. He hasn't shown much in his 2 starts.

Yeah, signing Cotchery is looking like a brilliant move.
And you're right about Worilds. He needs to show something. He doesn't need to get 3 sacks and a forced fumble (although it would certainly help), but he needs to at least supply some pressure.

Damn, FA! I've agreed 100 percent with every post you've made so far. We won't put up with that much agreement around here. Steelers Injury Update 3798349058
