The Pittsburgh Steelers and the AVS Foundation on Friday settled a federal lawsuit against a Ligonier man and a Squirrel Hill business over foreign-language versions of the “Terrible Towel,” according to court records.
U.S. District Judge Arthur Schwab ordered the case closed Monday.
Nick Rossi of Ligonier said the lawsuit was the result of a breakdown in communications because he had already agreed to stop making the towels. When Bernard Schneider, the lawyer for the team and foundation, found that Squirrel Hill News Stand Inc. was still selling towels, he sent Rossi a letter. But Rossi was in Italy at the time and didn’t see the letter, he said.
Rossi supplied the newsstand and other businesses with towels.
