| Bruce Arians became the first interim coach to win NFL Coach of the Year honors. Now the head coach in Arizona, he replaced Chuck Pagano in September when the Colts' coach was diagnosed with leukemia. Arians went 9-3 before Pagano returned, and Indianapolis made the playoffs at 10-6, making Arians an easy winner, the Associated Press reports. "It's hard to put into words the feelings of this past year," said Arians, who was hired by the Cardinals in late January. "This was kind of the cherry on the top, whipped cream and everything else you put on top."
http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabid/61/EntryId/32626/Arians-wins-AP-NFL-Coach-of-the-year-award/Default.aspx told everyone he's a great coach, no one listened, Rooney crapped the bed on this one he should of fired Tomlin and promted Arians as headcoach. now watch Arians turn around the Cardinals and win three or four Superbowls.

| NEW ORLEANS - Coach Bruce Arians has plenty of notes stored in his iPad after an initial look at the team he inherited. He might test the device’s memory after he and his staff begin meeting next week. “I'm jumping on a plane Sunday morning, heading to Phoenix and get to work,” Arians said Friday after a series of radio interviews at Super Bowl XLVII. “Hopefully, I'll finalize my staff and have my first staff meeting Tuesday. We'll get started on evaluating our roster, then free agency and the draft.” Arians said his first look prompted more positive surprises than negative ones, most notably on the offensive line. “We get some guys healthy, it's not as dire as some might make it out to be,” Arians said. “And some young guys have a chance to play who might be all right.” Two of those young guys are tackles Nate Potter and Bobby Massie, rookies last year. Massie started every game while Potter started the last six. “They got some experience against quality opponents,” Arians said. “They're just going to get better.” The priority this off-season will be addressing the quarterback position. Arians likes to throw deep, and the current quarterbacks on the roster — Kevin Kolb, John Skelton and Ryan Lindley — have the arm strength to do it, he said. But he’s not committing to any of them. That’s part of the reason he’s eager to start meeting with his coaches. “What we have on the roster, they played well at times,” he said. “It's just protecting them, protecting the football a little bit better.

| I think we need to take an honest look at Arians, the Colts, and their 2012 season.
First of all, even though the Colts were the "worst" team in 2011, winning only 2 games, they weren't exactly a horrible team. We know Manning is a great QB, but are we to believe that with him, the Colts are a Super Bowl-caliber team. Without him, they're picking first in the draft? Colts owner Jim Irsay is a bit of a douche, and it really wouldn't surprised me to find out that they threw games in order to get Andrew Luck. Whether they just needed better QB play or whether they threw games in 2011 to get Luck, the bottom line is that coming into this season, the Colts were not a typical 2-14 team. They were still a good team despite going 2-14 the previous season.
If we look at the teams the Colts played with Arians as head coach, most of their opponents weren't exactly tough ... Jets, Browns, Titans, Dolphins, Jaguars, Bills, Lions, Titans. Those were all winnable games regardless of who was coaching.
The three playoff teams they played tell a different story. They beat the Packers. It was their best win of the year, and there's no doubt it was a great win. But they got beat by the Patriots** 59-24, and the Texans beat them 29-17.
So during Arians' tenure as interim head coach, a decent Colts team beat some crappy teams and a few decent teams. Of the three playoff teams they faced, they got clobbered in 2 of the 3 games.
Arians deserves credit for holding the team together during Pagano's situation. But it's crazy to think that he turned the Colts from a 2-14 team into a playoff team. The Colts were a playoff-caliber team when Arians took over. If they would have had a tougher schedule, they wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.
