Long before Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger picked up the nickname “Big Ben,” there was a large clock tower just off the Thames River in London that had a bell that went by the same name.
Now the two Big Bens are coming together in advance of the Steelers’ visit to Wembley Stadium to take on the Vikings during the 2013 season. Roethlisberger will be in the United Kingdom this week to promote that game as well as remind Londoners about why we’re celebrating Independence Day this Thursday.
Mostly he’ll be there to promote the game, though. Roethlisberger will hold a forum Tuesday with 30 fans selected to ask him questions about his career, playing in London and more. The fans have to be members of the Union Jax, the UK fan club for the Jaguars that NFLUK launched to celebrate Jacksonville’s commitment to playing games in the UK for the next four seasons.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/01/big-ben-heads-to-the-home-of-the-original-big-ben/ I still don't like regular season games being played overseas. Preseason games would be OK, but not regular season games. There are only 16 games a year. It's not right to take away even one game from fans of an NFL team. The NFL is a billion dollar business ... it's not like it's hurting for fans or money. Instead of doing things to try to attract new fans, they should focus more on doing things to retain their current fans. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Or if they even have to pay for their tickets in the first place.

What I get miffed about is why ticket holders have to pay full price for pre-season games. It's mind boggling.
I also don't understand why the Steelers need to go to London to play a game. Every year I get more and more disinfranchised with the NFL. It's no longer the league I enjoy watching, and it just seems that Commissioner Goodell is in it just to get more money from fans rather than put a superior product on the field. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!

| I'm not going to lie, I do think it is pretty cool to see Ben go to England and to see the other Steelers fans. That's pretty neat. | |
