These refs are ridiculous. Ticky tack holding calls, phantom PI, a late hit on TJ Watt for hitting his own teammate... Holy hell does this officiating crew like hearing themselves talk.

Wow. What a fucking joke. They literally let them walk down the field and score.

NFL.com has this game all jacked up. There as bad as the refs in this game. FUUUUUUCK!!

I can smell the shit from here. 13 penalties. I don't know how many are bullshit. And AB makes another great catch.

Game MVP----- AB hands down.

This is some crap officiating. You can wipe off about half the penalties we have as ticky tack, or flat out wrong. Without the penalities sustaining Browns drives, and killing some of ours we'd be murdering these chumps.

I hope not. Seriously, this was so poorly officiated. I hate to complain about refs but they were awful. This is I think the most flags I've ever personally seen thrown on us in one game. We'd make a play, holding flag. We'd hit a guy... personal foul.. The personal fouls were both ridiculous. Playing defense in this league is turning into a joke. I mean you're taught as a DB to hit a receiver and separate them from the football. You can't do that anymore because if you hit their head at all, even if they bend over into you, it's an automatic 15 yards for a "defenseless receiver". It's one thing when it's targeting (like Burfict on Brown), it 's another when it's unavoidable.

These refs literally kept the Browns in the game. The officiating was totally lopsided in their favor. Not to say we didn't commit some, but it wasn't uniformly enforced.

messy game, its a W but this type of performance isn't up to the level that the team needs to go all the way.....just praying Tuitt doesn't have a serious injury like a Torn Tri

The Browns played like it was the Super Bowl. The Steelers and the refs thought it was the 5th preseason game. If nothing else, we shook off the rust.

So many flags because the Steelers played like complete shit. They better step-up their game or they are going to get fucking rolled this season. Can't play the Browns/Rookie QB every week.

Yeah I heard bicep injury, the extent of which isn't yet known. Hoping it's just a strain. Can't afford to lose Tuitt.

TJ Watt blew up the stats but tbh I wasn't overly impressed. I liked his hustle but he didn't get any clear wins against his man, they were both dong sacks caused by good coverage

I never said he sucks, I just didn't see anything really special other than his hustle. I do think he can be a great player in time though.

Maybe it's just my perception and I'm wrong, and someone can correct me if I am, but it seemed like the key starters got fewer snaps in preseason than usual and didn't shake the rust off.

In the first half, it seemed like the offense was still trying to get "warmed up," and the conservative playcalling reflected that. In the second half, they opened the offense up more and started throwing downfield, instead of an endless stream of screen passes. The third preseason game should be the tuneup, not the first regular season game.

But they won, and I'll take an ugly win over a pretty loss. Hopefully they start next week's game like it's the regular season, and not preseason.

Anybody else expect the refs to screw us on AB's challenged catch? It seems like they were trying to bone us at every turn.

Also there was a play (forget which exactly) where a cleveland player false started a good whole second before the ball was snapped, it was on a crowell first down run as well (gained about 15). Didn't get called.

I especially was pissed on the personal foul called on Will Gay like 2 minutes after the fact. There should be a time limit on how long a ref can throw a flag on an infraction. Then there was a holding flag literally every time Bell got a decent run, except for the last play of the game, which I was shocked there wasn't a flag there.

Yeah, I kind of had the same feel. I don't know how much the Browns starters played preseason but they didn't seem to have the rust the Steelers did. I expect Bell to bounce back at least by the Bears game if not next week. Bryant seems to have had enough time to be doing better than he has so far. I know he missed a year but he had the entire pre-season...you'd think he's at least would be at 1/2 speed by now.

To the Browns and fans they now see them as being Super Bowl contenders because they played a contender close. Ugly win for sure but I'll take it. Every great season has 1-2 of these.
