During the season, players are typically off on Tuesdays. And so, with the players in most cities not in the building, coaches and personnel types often bring in some new players for a look-see and, possibly, a contract. (It’s often called a Gong Show, especially when a team has a specific need that it’s trying to fill.
The Steelers, who signed tackle Jamon Meredith after his tryout, also looked at tackle Ray Willis.
