The Steelers defense has gone from old, slow and done to ... No. 1.
Warren Sapp hasn't been heard from on the topic recently, but after six weeks of the NFL season the Steelers defense leads the league in yards allowed per game (270.5) to go with their standing of No. 1 against the pass (157.7).
Also, despite allowing 35 points in the opener to Baltimore, the team ranks fourth in the league in points allowed per game at 17.0.
The Steelers have done this over the past two games without two-thirds of their regulars on the defensive line, Aaron Smith and Casey Hampton, and without four-time All-Pro linebacker James Harrison.
