The NFL is cracking down this season on hits to the head and neck area of defenseless receivers, but the vicious hit that Steelers safety Troy Polamalu unleashed on Patriots receiver Wes Welker on Sunday apparently didn’t qualify.

Polamalu was not fined for his hit on Welker, the Boston Herald reports.

I'm guessing it was news in bah-stahn because it was a patriot* player that took the hit. And that means they figured since they lost the game that Goodell would reward them the fine money.
