Dick LeBeau will return as defensive coordinator for the Steelers in 2012, a source told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that he wanted both of his coordinators back, and LeBeau has told him he wants to return. LeBeau, 74, has been the defensive coordinator since 2004 in his second coaching stint with the team. He was part of Bill Cowher's original staff in 1992 and helped install a defense they still run today. He was promoted from secondary coach to coordinator in '95, then left to become assistant head coach in Cincinnati in '97.
