Don't count out "Koogs"

An interesting take at Steelers Depot on promoting Sean Kugler to OC, even though he said he wasn't interested in the position.

Interesting. I think Koogs has done a very good job with the patchwork line he's had. However, there is a huge difference between working with the hogs and creating a playbook, developing a game scheme, calling plays, managing skill players, etc.

I don't think I'd be comfortable with any o-line coach of ours becoming OC until that unit proves it can get the job done on a consistent basis. I know he's dealt with a lot of injuries and shuffling, but that being said, we haven't gotten a true sample evaluation of his coaching abilities because of it.

I'd still rather bring in Haley (who I'm concerned about attitude and compatibility-wise) or Hue Jackson (who may not have enough play-calling experience). I'd even rather see Fichtner get it over Kugler honestly.
