Everyone remember that year? First game of the season, we lost to the Browns 51-0. After that ass whuppin', we got thumped by the Bengals the following week 41-10. We beat the Vikings and Lions but then lost to the Bengals for the second time.
We were 2-3, and 0-3 in the division. But we got things rolling and made the playoffs. We beat the Oilers in the wild-card game. We ended up losing the next game to the Broncos, 24-23. The loss sucked, as all playoff losses do, but after how the season started, who expected us to even have a shot at making the playoffs much less winning one playoff game?
After getting hammered the first two games 51-0 and 41-10 and starting the season 2-3, I couldn't imagine what messages boards would have looked like if they had existed at the time. They would have blown up. There's no way anyone expected that team to make the playoffs. But they did.
Remember last year's Giants team? When they were setting there at 6-6, who would have thought they'd go on to win the Super Bowl? I'm not saying that this year's team will win the Super Bowl or even make the playoffs, but I'm not throwing in the towel just yet. Nope, I'm going to continue waving my towel until there's no life left in us.
I'll bitch and complain and use my Joe-Six-Pack analysis to try to figure out what the hell is going wrong, but I won't give up hope.

| I haven't given up hope either Wally, I just hope that they make some changes in their preparation and game plan to accomodate for the losses they've had to deal with. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available! | |

| Of course any true Steeler fan will continue to root for his team, even if that team sports a losing season, I've been through quite a few, however, even though it is completely implausible, there is that little sideline reporter in your head thinking, SOMEONE HAS GOT TO BE LISTENING OUT THERE!! And you think you might be making a difference. Also, where else are we going to rant? My fiance is sick of hearing me bitch. This is a more quiet alternative. :t-rex: _________________ Win, Lose, or Tie, I'm a Steeler fan until I DIE!!! | |

| In 2009 we started off 6-2. We had won the Super Bowl the previous year and things were looking good at the halfway point. Then the bottom fell out and we lost 5 straight games. We ended up finishing 9-7 and missing the playoffs.
I'd much rather be struggling now than later on in the season. We've got plenty of time to figure out what's wrong and make it right. It's not how you start. It's how you finish. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with ranting and venting. As I said last night, everyone handles losses differently. There's no right or wrong way. I'm just seeing a lot of Steelers fans on various boards who are already throwing in the towel and even talking about the draft. I'm just offering a different perspective. We're not the Browns. We're the Steelers. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

| Great post Wallie it does at least give us reason to hope. If you ask me I don't think we could beat Sister Mary's School of for the blind and that's where my frustration is coming from. I know we are a better team than leaveland, but at this moment I'm not so sure. Hope you are right and we can get this season turned around real soon. At the very least you have reminded me there is still reasonable hope. I will try to keep that in mind as the season unfolds. | |

Nah, I was just kidding. There's no hope. Bring on the Bungles. Our playoff run begins next week. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

| Without all the injuries I'd be a lot more optimistic but I'll give it a few more weeks before I stick a fork in the season. And Ike needs to pull his head outa his ass. _________________ ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ | |

| Wally, you made me feel a little better. Again, I'm just a little more pessimistic than most of you. Something is just off and I can't quite put my finger on it.
I hope, hope, hope, we improve and hope, hope, hope, we don't have any more injuries. _________________

I hope, hope, hope, we improve and hope, hope, hope, we don't have any more injuries. I agree that something is off. We all have our own ideas on what that something is, but we've definitely got problems. I posted a few examples of how you can't tell how a season will turn out based on how the team is performing in September and October. I'm not saying that they'll figure things out and save the season. I'm just saying that it's possible. The next two games will tell us a lot more. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.
