|  Steelers to work out quarterbacksSteelersXtreme.com It's audition day in Pittsburgh. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora is reporting that the Steelers will take a look at free-agent quarterback Brian Hoyer, and ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that free-agent quarterback Mike Kafka will get a tryout with the Steelers. Hoyer, who played at Michigan State, signed with the New England Patriots* as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He served as Tom Brady's backup for three seasons before being released this past August. Kafka, who played at Northwestern, was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2010 draft. After breaking his non-throwing hand in a preseason game this year, Kafka was released by the Eagles during final cuts. The Steelers are looking for a quarterback to back up Charlie Batch, who will be making his first start of the season Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Batch came into the season as the third-string quarterback. He's currently the only available quarterback on the roster after injuries to starter Ben Roethlisberger and backup Byron Leftwich. According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Hoyer worked out for the Steelers on Tuesday and that the team planned to sign him.
