Based on real estate choices alone, it doesn't appear Mike Wallace believed he had a long-term future with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wallace never bought a home in his four seasons in Pittsburgh, preferring to work off a series of six-month leases at fully furnished apartments.

Wallace now is house hunting in South Florida after signing a $60 million contract with the Miami Dolphins in free agency. It's a fresh start for the dynamic wide receiver, who points out that the feeling around his new team is much different than his previous one.

"Everybody has a college mentality around here. It's a lot different than where I came from," he said, according to The Miami Herald. "Everybody's hungry. Everybody wants to get better, get to where we need to be -- that's a winning record

I respected Wallace until now. Yes, Mike, it is the attitude that matters. That means playing like you want to win. Have fun in Miami Mike Wallace prefers Dolphins' culture over Steelers' 2472506995

Meh, I wouldn't read too much into Wallace's comments. The Dolphins haven't been a winning team in a long, long time. They've made a lot of changes, and there's some legitimate excitement with the team. The Steelers, on the other hand, are used to being a winning team. I'm sure the Steelers approach things with more of a businesslike attitude, so it shouldn't be surprising that there's more of an inexperienced, excited "college mentality" in Miami.

Plus, do we really expect Wallace to say something like this: "Yeah, this team is great and has potential, but it sucks compared to Pittsburgh."? Every free agent is going to talk up his new team. It would be wrong if they didn't.
