- PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) — For the fourth year in a row, Jerome Bettis was eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame; and for the fourth year in a row, the former Steeler did not get in.
This year’s inductees will be Derrick Brooks, Michael Strahan, Walter Jones, Andre Reed and Aeneas Williams.
Also, Ray Guy became the first punter elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The other senior selection is defensive end Claude Humphrey.
http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2014/02/01/reports-bettis-not-part-of-2014-hall-of-fame-class/ While it's disappointing that Bettis didn't get in (again), it's hard to argue against those who did. Bettis' time will come. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

| I don't think Aeneas Williams is above Bettis. This is purely a selective, "Not another Steeler" vote. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available! | |

I'm not sure I can agree with that, Truck. Williams was one of the best corners of his era. He had 55 interceptions (ranking 20th all-time). When Hall of Fame voters selected their All-Decade team for the 90s, the four corners were Rod Woodson, Deion Sanders, Darrell Green, and Aeneas Williams. Williams was one of the best players at his position in his era. As much as I love Bettis, I don't think we can make the same argument for him. He was a great running back, but not one of the best of his era. Being a Steelers fan, of course I want to think that Bettis should already be in, but I'm not sure the evidence supports it. He's probably going to have to wait until more running backs with weaker stats are eligible, which will force him in. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. | Ohh well. As you said Wally, Bettis' day will come. After all, it took Lynn Swan 14 years to get in! _________________
