- Tomlin Likes Team’s Energy In Monday Practice
By Eric Hagman
LATROBE (KDKA) – Today’s practice seemed to lack the intensity of what you might expect during the final week of training camp, but coach Mike Tomlin didn’t necessarily agree.
“I like the energy the group came back out with,” said Tomlin, referring to Saturday’s loss to the Giants. “This is an important bounce-back week for us and I think we got off to a good start.”
The team never did go “live,” so there was no tackling but there were a couple of audible collisions that drew “oohs” and “ahhs,” including one between RB LaGarrett Blount and S Will Allen. The collision actually ended up with the bulkier Blount on the ground.
Allen played FS with the first string defense; Mike Mitchell did not dress and spent most of the session behind the defense next to defensive backs coach Carnell Lake. LIB Ryan Shazier was dressed, but did not take part in team drills. Instead, he was replaced by Sean Spence.

| Steelers find a practice partner in Bills
"LATROBE, Pa. – In the final analysis, the process involved in the Steelers getting together with the Buffalo Bills for a couple of days of joint practices was a simple one.
“Bare bones, they’re different than us schematically,” said Coach Mike Tomlin, “and they’re in close proximity.”
Schematic differences aside, the football version of the first commandment of real estate – location, location, location – is critical in organizing such an exercise, because the Chicago Bears play a 4-3 defense, too, but getting on an airplane for a couple of days worth of practices in the middle of a training camp week is just not feasible.
And so it will be the Steelers and the Bills on the field at Saint Vincent College, with Wednesday’s session scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and Thursday’s to run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. As is the case with all Steelers training camp practices, these will be open to the public, with free admission and free parking to all fans interested in attending. Next summer, the Steelers will visit the Bills, who hold their training camp at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, New York."

| Polamalu outburst resonates with Hayward
PITTSBURGH – That the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive starters were yelling at each other on the sidelines last Thursday night is not surprising.
That one of the quietest players on the team was among those shouting might qualify as shocking.
And Troy Polamalu’s rant is at least telling of how poorly the Steelers’ defense played in a 31-21 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I hope everyone appreciates it because you don’t hear (that) from him real often,” Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward said Saturday. “If anybody’s going to do that, I appreciate Troy doing it, because he’s been in this. It’s not like he’s going to take plays off. He wants to be great and now, and everybody should want to be great now.”
The Steelers were anything but great in in their third preseason game.
