Cam Heyward fined $22,050 for abusive language to official

Ironhead’s son apparently is a Potty Mouth.

Per a league source, Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward has been fined $22,050 for using abusive language toward a game official during Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers.

The incident happened in the third quarter, after Bucs running back Doug Martin scored on a three-yard run. The broadcast of the game shows Heyward gesturing as he complained to the official about a holding penalty that wasn’t called on the play.

The penalty is another example of the apparently lack of discipline on the current edition of the Steelers’ franchise.

How much did the ref get fined for blowing the obvious holding penalty? They apparently were the only people who didn't see the holding. Glad they didn't hear the words spewing from my mouth. I'm curious to how the NFL determines the amount of these fines.

No kidding. Maybe if the jackwagon standing right there could make a proper call, he wouldn't have to retaliate.

I found out that the fines are based on a % of game check. That is why they have weird amounts.

so he was fined his whole game check for ONE potty word?

I'm certainly OK with a player being flagged for using abusive language toward a ref. But a fine? Seriously? This league is becoming a joke.

As for Goodell, 31/32 teams gave him ALL the power. One voted no, that would be the one that gets fined the heaviest.

Probably because many people with a 4 year degree can only find minimum wage jobs. Perhaps they should file for charitable status and get some help from the NFL.

I really hope he gets found doing some dirty deeds with the Ray Rice thing so he can have his career on the block. I think he has slowly diluted the NFL from a sport to a business. I understand that the NFL is both, but it's only a shadow of what it used to be. This Heyward thing is a prime example. Did he personally attack the ref? Doesn't sound like it. Did he say a potty word? Yep. Is that REALLY worth that much money when it effected so few of people? No, at least not in my opinion.

It just seems like Goddell takes every chance he gets to pick on us. I'm surprised Harrison isn't getting fined just for being on the field when Heyward said it. I wonder if he gets a portion of the fines before they send it off to charity? Hate is a strong word so let me say this: I HATE THAT SON OF A BITCH!!!!!

Unlike the players, NFL officials are allowed to make mistakes without fear of any consequences. Goodell leads by example.
