Steelers safety Ryan Mundy is paying for the vicious hit he laid on Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey on Sunday.

Mundy has been fined $21,000 for the hit, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

The collision between the crown of Mundy’s helmet and Heyward-Bey’s chin was violent, and it left Heyward-Bey motionless on the ground for several minutes. He eventually moved his arm to wave to the fans as he was stretchered off the field, the first sign that he would be OK.

I would not want to see a professional player get hurt...but I think they need to look at this with a case by case standard. (Perhaps they do I'm not sure) How do you get a 250lb athlete to stop in his tracks after he commits his whole body to the play? You can't in just two steps....he may be able to slow down some but good luck in not getting hit.
