It's a shame I can't see it live It only starts at 2 am Belgian time and I need to get up early for work. I will see it when I get home. I will be excited to see the rookies play for the first time and Boykin and Williams.

Still plenty to watch for even as Steelers defense goes ‘vanilla’

CANTON, Ohio — The unveiling of the “new” Steelers defense really will not take place tonight, because here is the flavor everyone is likely to get from them in their game against the Minnesota Vikings: Vanilla, linebacker Vince Williams promised.

“I think we’ll probably be pretty vanilla in this first preseason game, so I don’t think you’ll see too much,” he said.

Yet, while tonight’s game might look more like a fire drill on offense and defense, there is a growing sense coming into it that after two weeks at Saint Vincent College, the Steelers defense just might exceed expectations.

“My expectations are going to be high,” said veteran safety Will Allen. “We’re going to be a top-five defense. We have the guys, we have the ability to do it. It’s just a matter of being disciplined, being focused and doing it.”

vanilla offense, vanilla defense and back up players fighting for a roster spot in this game. hope our back ups kick the crap out of their back ups.

If the Steelers are a top 5 defense this year, and there isnt a significant injury to a major player, how are the Steelers not winning it all?

Jones completed his first pass, then had a delay of game, and Winger nails the punt so hard he out kicks the coverage team.
