Although signed to a one-year contract, he would like to try it with them again next year with a full spring and training camp.
“I’ve thought about it. I think about maybe making next year my last year, play one more season. Give it everything I have. We’ll see what happens in the offseason. I still want to play.
“I wish I could have done a lot better this year. I felt like I did a good job coming in late and what I had to deal with. I feel like I can still play, man. I just understand the importance of the offseason.”
Who knows where Vick, 35, might be in his knowledge of the offense if the Steelers had signed him at least before training camp. Veteran backup Bruce Gradkowski opened camp on the physically-unable-to-perform list with a sore right shoulder that also kept him out in the spring.
Vick kept in shape after the Philadelphia Eagles released him early this year, but no one came knocking until the Steelers signed him Aug. 25. If he returns to play in 2016, he would like it to be with them again. Although with the Steelers only a short time, he feels like he has found a home.
“Absolutely, I’d definitely come back here,” Vick said. “Great people, great staff, great teammates. That’s what I fell in love with, my teammates, a bunch of great guys.
“That’s what [coach] Mike Tomlin told me before I came in, that there were a lot of good guys in this locker room, and it’s awesome.”
He would like to return even if Jones is the No. 2 quarterback.
“Absolutely. That’s what this game is all about, it’s all about competition, it’s all about seeing how far you’re willing to go to make yourself a success or find success. Whatever it takes to help this football team.”

Probably not as much as those dogs would have liked to have lived.

thats not a bad fee for holding a clipboard, wearing sweats, and staying out of danger, hoping to ride the coatails to a SB.

I thank him for the effort he put in for the team this year. Sadly, he's just not a good enough quarterback to be a backup here.
Much depends on what happens with Landry Jones. I would rather have a young quarterback to groom as a third stringer than to pay Mike Vick $1 mil a year. He just doesn't have what it takes to play in a modern passing offense. I hope the Steelers pass.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Emergency quarterback Heath Miller doesn't practice at the position and has never attempted an NFL pass. Coach Mike Tomlin won't even entertain how Miller would fare as a third-string quarterback when asked recently. But Miller would take snaps in a bind for two reasons -- he was an accomplished Virginia high school quarterback, and the Steelers trust him more than most players. Miller passed for nearly 3,500 yards and 45 touchdowns in his last two seasons at Honaker High School near his native Swords Creek, Va. He earned the state's Associated Press Player of the Year honor at the position. And the Steelers offense is all about nuance, timing and rhythm, which Miller understands better than most as a long-time tight end in the system. Miller embodies the dependability the Steelers so covet. That's why, if the Steelers need to keep Mike Vick inactive and roll with two quarterbacks, Miller will be the third moving forward. -- Jeremy Fowler

He will sign with Cleveland during the off season after we release him.

Personally I don't much care to see Vick back again. I think it was an experiment, that hasn't proven fruitful. I say we move on, and either keep Gradkowski on for another year, along with Jones, or draft someone we think can fill Roethlisberger's shoes as a starter down the road.

I wonder how the Dawg Pound will feel about that?
Of course, at least a few of them would probably welcome euthanization over sitting through yet another season of watching the embarrassment that is the Browns.

Vick Story Prompts a Reaction
By Ed Bouchette Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Good morning,
The story I wrote about Michael Vick in Tuesday’s Post-Gazette has struck a nerve. If you have not read it, here it is:
In the story, I quote Vick as saying he’d like to play one more year. Nowhere in the story did I ever suggest he should play one more year, that the Steelers should bring him back nor that I believe he played well this season. I let Vick do the talking.
However, as you can see by these emails I received (others were worded too strongly or too ignorantly to print) some readers did not comprehend the story as I wrote it:
--- YOU: I think it is disgraceful that you think Vick should play with the Steelers another year! Not only is he a washed up football player he is a horrible human! And no he has NOT served his time! I suppose you are as uncompassionate as he is! I have been a Steelers fan all my life and I have not watched a game since they signed that POS! The Steelers sold out and for what.... A washed up piece of garbage! Peace out!
ED: Yes, but did you donate your Terrible Towel to a worthy cause?
--- YOU: Ed is it true you think Vick can play one more year with the Steelers? If this is true, seriously, quit drinking the Rooney Kool-Aid. His dog history aside he is washed up and needs to move on.
ED: I prefer cranberry juice, by the way.
--- YOU: I respectfully disagree with you Ed on signing Michael Vick for another year with the Steelers. He is one that gives football a bad name he's a vicious person and should not be entitled to play pro football. You should read his federal indictment, I couldn't even get past the first paragraph. I'm sorry I believe in forgiveness but he went way beyond he tortured these dogs in the third year of his multimillion dollar contract he's no good ! P.s. He stunk with the Eagles and he stinks with the Steelers ! Yuk.
--- YOU: I abhor your devotion to a man who tortured animals.
--- ED: Vick plays for the Steelers, and I cover them – the good, the bad, the ugly. And I save my devotion for family and friends.
--- YOU: I cannot imagine why you think the Steelers should keep Michael Vick for one more minute, let alone another year, when he is costing the team its image and much of its fan base.
ED: Judging by attendance at home and away and the TV ratings, the fan base hasn’t gone anywhere, never mind “much” of it.
--- YOU: You really are a poor excuse for a journalist! Shame on you for supporting an evil, unremorseful monster named Mikey Vick!!!
ED: My job is not to ignore a certain segment of the Steelers roster just because you don’t agree with whom they have on it.
--- YOU: While Vick is a monster, you're pathetic. It's evident you can't be trusted to tell the truth. Leave Pittsburgh and take Vick and Tomlin with you! We don't want your kind here.
ED: And what is that kind?
--- YOU: I am not sure why you feel the need to be a voice for the propaganda machine- but please stop. Can you just report the facts and not be on the payroll for the Vick PR team?
ED: And those facts would be, what? That he does not play for the Steelers? That they did not win two of the three games he started? That he has not slipped from backup to No. 3? That he is not imitating Russell Wilson in practice this week? What?

And people hate on Ed for his sarcasm. I'd say he handled some poorly educated internet tough guys with excellent tact.
Great read, but just reveals that there are a lot of classless people in the world that aren't going to launch any rockets soon.

I agree it should be time to start looking for Ben's replacement and I don't mean an O'Donnell type. (Choak Artist). there will never be another BB but it takes at least a couple years to groom a QB to start and given Ben's latest injuries and his style his career could end on any given sunday.

Obviously Jones is now the backup but I would still take Vick over Gradkowski.
It wasn't pretty but he was very close to taking us 3-0 in his 3 starts. There were large portions of those games where he looked useless but he didn't turn the ball over and made a couple huge plays in each game that either kept us in it or gave us an opportunity to win. I don't think you could ask for more from your #3 QB.
I think people get too caught up in AB not getting his stats to realize Vick did a decent, if unspectacular job.
