Steelers to shelve “bumble bee” alternate uniforms after 2016

Whether you love them or hate them, the 2016 season will be the last you will see of the Pittsburgh Steelers “bumble bee” alternate uniforms.

According to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Steelers will not wear the uniforms after the 2016 season.

The uniforms were throwbacks to those worn by the 1934 Steelers. As alternates, they debuted in 2012 as a tribute to the team’s history during its 80th Anniversary season.

I hated them at first but they grew on me.

does anyone know what their record was when wearing them??...for some reason it seems like they always played well when they wore them..or is it just me mis-remembering things?

I remember the same thing. Pretty sure they have a good won-loss record in them. That's the reason i like them. They play well in those uniforms. Maybe its because those uni's were so ugly the steeler players played extra mad...

They kind of grew on me, but I'm not exactly sad to see them gone. I'd like it better if they went back to the 60's throwbacks, those looked good.

I will admit they went well with the whole "Killer B's" thing going on. Though the Killer B's are one short at the moment.

bring back the helmets with the gray facemasks.

Like a few of you guys, I didn't like the jerseys at first, but they grew on me.

I'm wondering a few things. One, are they going to bring back another jersey from the past for one game next year? Two, are they going to use the all black color rush jersey as an alternate jersey once a year once they're debuted this year? Three, are they not going to wear any alternate jerseys after this year? We'll see.

If they switched to something like this I wouldn't complain.

When the Steelers host the Ravens on Christmas Day they'll do so in their monochromatic "Color Rush" uniforms, team president Art Rooney II confirmed to Steelers Nation Radio.

According to Steelers.com's Bob Labriola, the Steelers will likely wear black on black, and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Mark Kaboly tweeted as much on Monday.
