| Prior to the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday game against the Buffalo Bills, FOX Sports NFL Insider Jay Glazer reported that the New York Giants alerted the league office that the Steelers were using deflated footballs during last Sunday’s game. He went on to report that the Giants tested two footballs on the sideline during the game and that both came back under league standards for PSI. Those footballs were reportedly sent to the NFL for testing.
Since that report surfaced, NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy released this statement:
“The officiating game ball procedures were followed and there were no chain of command issues. All footballs were in compliance and no formal complaint was filed by the Giants with our office.”
After the Steelers beat the Bills, head coach Mike Tomlin was asked if he had heard Glazers’ report.
“I heard about it but we have absolutely no response,” Tomlin said. “We’ll cooperate fully with whatever New York wants to do in regards to that. we have absolutely nothing to hide. It’s a non-story for us.”
