| definitely a wtf moment.
Didn't they just have a pro bowler suddenly walk away, and get replaced with an unheralded backup who lit it up? And then when he got hurt, replaced by a 5th rounder - who also did great.
Who coached these guys again?

| Yeah, I don't understand this move. After Munchak, Saxon is the least deserving coach to get the boot. There HAS to be something we don't know. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass. | |

| Yesterday when I read this my first thought was what the hell? The only thing wrong with our running game this year was lack of it. Did they fire him because Ridley fumbled?
I believe there's a lot more going on all around this team that we don't know Wally.

| Trinkets for the natives maybe. Maybe just forgetting someone, but I don't recall any Tomlin coach ever being hired away or permission even asked to interview any with exception of Munchak this year. Arians coached elsewhere but that was more them forcing him out and he hooked on with another team. _________________ | |

They denied several interview requests for Butler when he was still linebackers coach and the heir apparent to LeBeau. But that doesn't take away from your point. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

| We were ranked 31st in the league for rushing? It felt like we were doing just fine watching the games except for maybe a couple. Given our circumstances, that doesn't seem like reasoning for a non-renew... _________________ Win, Lose, or Tie, I'm a Steeler fan until I DIE!!! | |

We may have been 31st, but there were games where it felt like we abandoned the run from the start of the game, especially in the last half of the season when we went 2-4. Strange how our strong running game lead us to a great start but yet it was barely used late in the season when we needed it most. Against the Broncos - 16 carries for 75 yards (L) Against the Chargers - 15 carries for 65 yards (L) Against the Raiders - 19 carries for 40 yards (L) Against the Patriots***** - 25 carries for 158 yards (W) Against the Saints - 15 carries for 65 yards (L) Against the Bengals - 20 carries for 65 yards (W) In Comparison: Against the Panthers - 30 carries for 138 yards (W) IMO, the Steelers, be it Fichtner or Roethlisberger, went pass happy way too often down the stretch instead of sticking with what worked in the first half of the season. It isn't necessarily about the total rushing yardage but the fact having more carries means the clock keeps ticking. In 4 of the last 6 games, had the Steelers used a few more runs maybe 1, if not more, of those games the opponents don't have a chance for a last minute drive. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!

| Steelers consider expanding their coaching staff
Two of Tomlin’s past three position hires — defensive line coach Karl Dunbar and secondary coach Tom Bradley — came from the college ranks, where they had extensive experience and were viewed as teachers. The Steelers could go in a similar direction again when replacing Porter and Saxon.

| I would prefer they fire Butler, and hire Gregg Williams to run the defense. He's not perfect either, but not nearly as much of a deer in the headlights as Butler.

| Stuck with Butler. Makes zero sense but hey I have to say we as Steeler fans have to be used to this kind of shit by now. Weird draft picks that make you shake your head, hanging on to coaches way too long... the kinda stuff that make you hmmm... ya know? | |
