Absolutely. Now I guess restructuring will be the only way besides cutting a few guys to get some cap room.

Sad to see him go, been a good player for us, but I think we have younger guys that can fill the role, and it saves us money to boot. Good move by the front office. Wish Gilbert the best of luck in Arizona.

That's huge. After losing Munchak, the longer we can keep the current line together the better. Obviously, losing Gilbert isn't a big deal because of his history with injuries.

hmmmm...thats odd. they put a 2nd rnd tender on BJ Finney. i thought for sure that meant walking papers for foster. i would have understood a 1 year contract for foster for depth , then hand the job over to finney along with his shiny new long term deal, but a 2 year deal for foster ?

Steelers Nation Instagram said Golden Tate just happens to be in Pittsburgh this week. Not sure how this helps us, as Tate is a slot WR, aging, and just isn't that great.

We'll be fine at receiver - I'm not concerned about that position. Next year Washington will step up, JuJu will be great, and whoever we draft in round 3 or 5 or 6 will come along and contribute.

He seems to be thinking about it anyway.

It kind of feels like they may go for a starting caliber player in FA this year. Maybe a CB. Not a superstar type but maybe a competent starter as opposed to a special teams guy. Pirates last summer picked up Keone Kela and Chris Archer which was completely out of character for them. Maybe Steelers do the same type thing

It looked like it was heading this direction. I hate this because I really like Jesse. I don't feel nearly as strongly about Grimble, that's for sure.

Grimble came cheaper.

I am not surprised. I remember seeing something a while back that James had no intention of resigning and just wanted out. I can't remember the source.

Regardless, add a TE to our needs.

I would love that.

I'm scratching my head about Grimble over JJ unless he had enough and needed to be somewhere else like Jak said.
Roby would be an upgrade. The reason I see Tate being good for us is because I think Washington could play wide with Tate/Switzer taking the slot. We still need to draft a future WR to be able to move Washington back to the slot. Having said that we do well in later rounds on WRs so maybe a pass on Tate. Waffle waffle.

Drafting a TE is now in the cards. I don't think Vance is reliable enough, and Grimble has shown flashes, but was third on the depth chart for a reason.
