- The Pittsburgh Steelers took on the Oakland Raiders this afternoon and looked to be in control for most of the game before squandering one opportunity too many to fall 34-31 as time expired on a game-winning 44-yard Sebastian Janikowski field goal.
It would be the fourth quarter that would spell doom for the Steelers, giving up 13 unanswered points in the final frame that led to a very rare 1-2 start through the first 3 games of the season. The Steelers held a 31-21 lead entering the final quarter, but a series of unfortunate events would see to it that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s magnificent day would be for naught.
On the day, the 9th year veteran was 36 for 49 passing for a 73.5% completion percentage, 384 yards, and 4 touchdowns, averaging 7.8 yards per pass attempt. It is merely a continuation of the quarterback’s hot start to the 2012 season.
Through 3 games, Roethlisberger is 82 for 120 passing for a 68.3% completion percentage, 904 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 1 interception, with 7.5 YPA and a quarterback rating of 109.2. The quarterback rating is currently 2nd in the league, and he’s tied the Falcons’ Matt Ryan and the Bills’ Ryan Fitzpatrick for the most touchdown passes.
But, as stated, that would all ultimately go to waste due to costly errors, thought it was the Steelers that began the game as the recipients of opponents’ mistakes. On the first play from scrimmage, Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer targeted Denarius Moor, who slipped on the play, allowing safety Ryan Clark to easily pick the pass off and return it to the Oakland 36 yard line.
The ensuing drive started off rocky with Roethlisberger throwing consecutive incompletions and a 9 yard pass on 3rd and 10, but a daring decision to go for it on 4th and 1 resulted in a big 20 yard reception for Mike Wallace after a short pass that set the Steelers up with first and goal. After two failed runs by running back Isaac Redman and Wallace, Roethlisberger found tight end Heath Miller in the end zone for the 4 yard touchdown and a 7 point lead.
The lead would not last long, however, as the Raiders would find a crease in a depleted Steelers defensive unit down two All-Pro players for the second week in a row in the form of linebacker James Harrison and safety Troy Polamalu. With Chris Carter and Ryan Mundy filling in for the former Defensive Players of the Year, opposing running backs had less to fear. Recapping the Steelers' 34-31 loss to the Oakland Raiders

| I didn't know where else to post my Steeler- Raiders-loss vent so here I am. All freaking day (for two days) I've heard blah blah blah....Raiders beat the OLD Steelers. Blah blah blah......Steelers suck. Blah blah blah....Old Slow and so-over. Shit.....it's tough living out here in Cali-freaking-fornia. I'm surrounded by Harblow lovers, and dirty, creepy, nasty, hoodlum Raiders fans. Seriously, sometimes I think it would be easier to live in Maryland amongst the classless Ratbirds fans (speaking of which, where the hell is Jon these days)? Funny, (not haha funny but strange funny) -- most of these fans have zero passion for their team unless they beat the Steelers. Freaking A@@holes. Thank you. I'm quite finished now. _________________ | |

Actually I did live in Columbia Maryland for a few years. I enjoyed the Inner Harbor and the awesome crab cakes. _________________
