| PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — The Steelers let one get away in Week 3 at Oakland, but according to running back Isaac Redman, the 34-31 upset by the Raiders, their pretty punchless ground attack is not entirely to blame, nor is Todd Haley’s strategy.
“They were down in their defensive backfield…so we knew Ben could pick them apart, and our receivers could have their way,” Redman told the gathered masses on the South Side earlier this week. “There wasn’t really any need to keep running the ball, because we were doing what we wanted to them.”
The Steelers enter their bye week with a running game ranked 30th in the NFL in total yardage. Redman, who carried only nine times for 27 yards Sunday, and has just 72 yards through three games, was quick to diagnose the negative plays that has kept this offense from achieving true balance.
“Guys are coming in free and unblocked. We need to put hats on hats, and do a better job getting to the line of scrimmage, and not dancing too much,” he said.

| Gunning the ball in the first half to get a lead is fantastic, heck even up through the 3rd quarter...but when you need to grind the clock out, YOU NEED A FREAKIN' RUNNING GAME! _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available! | |

Exactly. I don't care if we go no huddle for the first 45 minutes as long as we can pound it late.

| A running game would certainly help substantially, but as long as #7 is behind center, we'll always have a chance to win. _________________ "Either you're playing dumb, or it's not an act". -Judge Judy

Sounds good in theory as long as AB84 (who fumbled twice) can hang onto the damn ball at the most critical time in a game. Get the first down and get your butt on the ground. The Raiders were trying to strip the ball on every single play. That is what the Steelers D needs to do.

I would like us to get to a point were we can pound the ball in the opponents face...with an average of four yards per carry. _________________ Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser. First they need to do a better job of tackling. It's hard to attempt to strip the ball if there's no confidence in your team's ability to tackle. _________________ -"I stand corrected...
