Steelers claim LS Brandon Hartson off waivers from Chiefs

I'm going to look stupid, but how is a long snapper's job that different than a centers? Other than hiking the ball further, of course.

I'm asking, because it seems like the center should be able to long snap, saving a roster spot.

I agree. But from everything I've heard it does take a little bit of specialty. And it's so crucial to get those snaps right, the difference can win or lose a game. Plus you need somebody who can cover more ground on special teams.

Especially since we re-signed James Harrison. He should be able to hold down backup OLB and center/LS duties. We trade Pouncey for a first or second and cut Warren and Hartson. We can then concentrate on getting a couple more DEs and move Cam Thomas to safety full time. Championship!

Thats spreading James a little thin since we need him at QB if Roethlisberger gets hurt.
