Steelers announce formation of Hall of Honor

Many NFL teams have their own halls of fame, their rings of honor in home stadiums and other ways to spotlight their greatest performers through the years.

And now the Steelers have one.

President Art Rooney II announced Tuesday morning that his franchise has formed what it calls The Hall of Honor, which will induct former players, coaches and front office personnel who were important to the franchise that was founded in 1933.

Jerome Bettis, Mel Blount, Terry Bradshaw, Jack Butler, Dermontti Dawson, Bill Dudley, Joe Greene, Kevin Greene, L.C. Greenwood, Jack Ham, Franco Harris, Dick Hoak, John Henry Johnson, Walt Keisling, Jack Lambert, Bobby Layne, John McNally, Chuck Noll, Arthur J. Rooney, Sr., Daniel M. Rooney, Andy Russell, Donnie Shell, John Stallworth, Ernie Stautner, Lynn Swann, Mike Webster, and Rod Woodson.

Me and a few friends have been debating who should be the first 3 or 4 to get in. I wasn't aware they were going to immediately include nearly every relevant former Steeler in the franchise's history. In 5 years, they'll be selecting from guys like Walter Abercrombie and Frank Pollard.
