That's good to know. I want to see this guy get it together. We need someone to step it up to replace Gay and Lewis is hurt. Maybe he gets all of the kinks worked out before the season starts. _________________ -"I stand corrected... | Why can Ike catch INTs in training camp but not during the season? Bet Brown might have asked Ike the same Question.

Maybe he gets all of the kinks worked out before the season starts. We talked about him on the Rooney Rants Podcast quite a bit this whole off-season. Looked at him as a guy who seemed poised to make a big jump. All signs pointed to it: Good pedigree from a high pressure, business-like university. Played in big games on big stages. Coming out of Texas it seemed like he just needed a yr or two to catch up physically. He really showed a lot on STs last year and displayed good tackling ability (which is a must for CBs in Lebeau's system). Then W Gay's departure placed a opportunity at his feet. A lot of guys have worn the BnG have paid their dues, learned and accepted the Steeler Way while playing key roles on STs. Then he comes out preseason game wk 1 and put that performance on tape?!?!?!?! His technique was bad. And worse, for me anyway, he played like was thinking about the previous play. Thats a position where you MUST have a short memory. He will bounce back and just get better and better IMO. The quality efforts at practice this week is a good sign.

He's still young and learning. As long as he learns from those mistakes and betters himself from them, we will have a nice young CB on our hands. I'm certainly not going to anoint him the second coming of Chad Scott just yet for one bad pre-season game. _________________ -"I stand corrected... | Curtis Brown only had two bad plays in a game that didn't matter, let's keep things in perspective. He showed a lot in the first half against people that are more likely to see an NFL field this year. Sunday will be a clean slate.

Agreed. He just needs to shake it off and learn from it. He'll be fine. _________________ -"I stand corrected... But I absolutely and wholeheartedly fart in the general direction of almost every other thing you have posted to this point."-

| It's important to note that the new CBA stipulates that players coming off the PUP list can't practice for 3 days. Tomlin said something to the affect that "he was ready to come off so we took him off" and didn't rule him out for Sunday, although I would think that is unlikely, seeing as how he would only get one practice in during that time. He should be in the lineup by the next preseason game though hopefully. | |

| Productive day as camp winds down Teresa Varley Steelers.com
The old adage no news is good news was the case at practice on Tuesday, with no new injuries to report.
“We were able to get some guys back even if they were in a limited capacity,” said Coach Mike Tomlin. “Jonathan Dwyer worked partially today. Isaac Redman did as well. The good news is we had no additional injuries in today’s practice.”
Tackle Max Starks was taken off the PUP list, but did not practice with the team on Tuesday.
“He’s going through a process of acclimation,” said Tomlin. “It has nothing to do with his availability. He’s available.
“He was ready to come off. I told you guys last week that I’d look at that after we got done, specifically after the weekend. I gave him a day off. He was ready to come off. We took him off, and we’ll proceed with the process.”
* * *
The Steelers host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night at Heinz Field, but practices this week are still in the training camp mode, where it’s not about game-planning but about development.
“It was a good, productive day,” said Tomlin. “Again, we worked situational football with some two-minute drills. We’ll continue to do those things. Even though we have a game at the end of this week, we’re singularly focused on Steelers versus Steelers. We believe that’s the best way for us to grow and develop as a team here in the next couple days.
“We’ll stay focused in that area and continue to work exclusively versus ourselves and compete. We like the competition that we’ve been getting.”

| Inside the Ropes: Tight end Peele grasps fundamentals Tribune Review By Ralph N. Paulk
Published: Tuesday, August 14, 2012, 7:44 p.m.
• Tight end Justin Peelle, a 10-year veteran signed to replace the injured David Johnson, got off to a quick start. The 6-foot-4, 251-pound journeyman appeared to grasp the offense’s fundamentals, but he had trouble moving the blocking sled. “I need to knock off the rust and prove I can still play,” he said.
• Rookie running back Chris Rainey and rookie wide receiver Marquis Maze showed off their playmaking abilities by each making two acrobatic, one-hand catches
• Offensive coordinator Todd Haley didn’t seem concerned, but his quarterbacks spent plenty of time tap dancing in the pocket while looking for open receivers. Ben Roethlisberger and Byron Leftwich held onto the ball, waiting to find a target. Jerrod Johnson was decisive and delivered a perfectly thrown low, outside ball to Tyler Beiler.
