PITTSBURGH -- Of the four preseason games the Steelers play each summer, the third one is most important. That’s because first-stringers will finally break a real sweat.
Unlike the other three exhibitions when front-line players are on the field only for a series or two, the first-team offense and defense will play at last the entire first half and possibly go into the third quarter Saturday night against the Bills.
Coach Mike Tomlin is also glad that Game 3 of the preseason is on the road.
“It is good that this game is on the road in Buffalo because we start the regular season in a similar circumstance on the road (in Denver) against a really good team in a hostile environment,” Tomlin said.
“So all the ingredients are there for a good opportunity for us to improve and show what we are capable of. I am looking forward to watching the guys work, and work in a game-like fashion.”
