According to Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk (via Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch), the St. Louis Rams released Max Starks earlier today.

Needing to make room for newly signed linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar, the Rams released the 31 year-old offensive tackle who signed with the Rams earlier this month after he was released by the San Diego Chargers.

Although Starks played poorly during the preseason and lost the starting left tackle job to King Dunlap in San Diego, one must wonder the following:

Would the Pittsburgh Steelers be interested in bringing Starks back now that he is a free agent?

Personally, I would rather see Starks back on the roster, Guy Whimper released, and Mike Adams riding the pine after his poor showings during the first four games this year on the blind-side.  Remember readers, Starks was brought in last fall to play left tackle because neither Gilbert nor Adams were ready to assume the most important position along the offensive line.

Likely desperate for a job, Starks would probably welcome a return to the franchise he left this offseason.

Plus, it is not like Pittsburgh does not need his experience at the left tackle position either.
