Source: Derrick Mason to be cut
ESPN.com news services

With the NFL lockout over, the Baltimore Ravens have begun to clean house.

Sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Monday the team has told wide receiver Derrick Mason, running back Willis McGahee and tight end Todd Heap they will be released when the league calendar permits it.

Defensive tackle Kelly Gregg also will be cut, according to multiple media reports.

Mason, 37, was the most productive of the veteran foursome last season; the 15-year veteran caught 61 passes for 802 yards and seven touchdowns. Mason's production dropped in the first season since Baltimore added Pro Bowl wideout Anquan Boldin last offseason.

Not a fan of the Mason or Heap moves. It was time for McGahee to go since Rice is just as good of a goal line back.

I fully support the Ravens in getting rid of Heap.

Yeah, I understand the McGahee move too, but they were already poised to lose Le'Ron McClain too. Heap and Mason are head shakers. Buddy Lee gone too? They are making room for somebody, but are they sacrificing too much?
