The correct grade for every team is incomplete but since they are being given out, here's a good one:
Mel Kiper's 2015 NFL Draft Grades
Pittsburgh Steelers: A-
Top needs: CB, S, OLB, TE
The Steelers had a really good draft. I think they needed help at every level of their defense, and they not only added a pass-rusher, but they also went hard after secondary talent, which was needed because of how depleted they were in that area.

B-b-b-b-but some dude gave us a D- on a pick! How can this possibly be?!?
Truth is, A+ or F- none of it means shit till these guys put on pads in September. That's when the grades will START to be really evaluated. The true finished grade will take up to 3 years from now. Everybody should just put their over-excitement/suicidal thoughts in the closet for awhile now. Patience is the word of the day.

I love this draft! I'm giving it an A. And if Shazier flashes and splashes this year and Dri gets some pop to his fizzle, I'm calling back to back A's!!!!!!!!!!

The 2015 NFL Draft, the Steelers and the Myth of "Best Player Available"
By Mike Frazer on May 4, 2015
Anyone who believes Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert is a strict adherent to the "Best Player Available" philosophy need look no further than the 2015 NFL Draft for ample evidence to the contrary.
It's not that this wasn't a good draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In fact, I would grade it a solid B-plus. I like most of the picks, and even Anthony Chickillo in the sixth round is growing on me.
It's possible that general manager Kevin Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin felt the players they drafted truly were the best players available, but I doubt that. In my eyes they were not the best players available.
They were the best value available, and value is found at the intersection of need and availability, not best pure player or athlete.
Coming into the draft, the Steelers' biggest needs were edge rusher and cornerback. Behind that were rising needs at tight end, defensive line and safety. Last on the shopping needs list was a lack of depth at wide receiver.
The Steelers draft haul consisted of two edge rushers (Bud Dupree, Chickillo), two corners (Senquez Golson, Doran Grant), a tight end (Jesse James), a defensive lineman (Letarrius Walton) and a safety (Gerod Holliman). They also grabbed a potential future slot receiver in Sammie Coates.
Tell me again that this wasn't all about need.
In fact, they addressed those needs almost in the exact order of perceived priority.

I like the draft. We drafted a lot of defense (which we needed) and maybe a nice pick up at WR and TE (which we needed).
Let's see how they produce on the field.

A 5'9 slot CB and a couple of Late round DB's which never seem to work out is not what i would call drafting for need...seems more like drafting to try to get the fans off your back about a position you care nothing about...ands did we really need ANOTHER WR?

I second that. I thought we had a good draft last year and still do. Sometimes injuries make it look like we crapped the bed but we have some pretty good talent (between this year and last) waiting to step into starting roles if only on special teams. First off I'd like to see one of these guys (Archer, maybe Coates) assume KR/PR duties and do a great job. Since we seem to be a gateway for exceptional WRs I'm glad we got Coates. I'd love to see Shazier,Jones, and Thomas develop as leaders on D. If we can get a pass rush going this year if t will help the secondary to gel.
We found out last year we can keep Ben upright and that has to continue so he can hit one of his (to many to cover) receivers. I'm trying to remain calm until preseason but I know the "Jones" will start soon.

Honestly I'm pretty stoked with our draft. I think Golson and Grant really have the potential to step up and be great players in our secondary. Of course only practice, and playing time are going to tell us if they are going to be good or not.
Bud Dupree, I think we got a steal. I think this guy is going to make an immediate impact for us. Watching his game tape, I like the way he plays and I think he was being asked to do a LOT at Kentucky. He reminds me of Harrison in how aggressive he plays, and I think our coaching staff is going to help him become a better, more polished, all around football player.
As for Sammie Coates, he's raw but he's got the speed to take the top off of defenses, and he's got the size also. Just imagine the guy in 4WR sets. How do you cover the likes of Brown, Wheaton, Bryant, and possibly Coates? That's a ton of speed on the field, and Bryant/Coates add size to the equation as well. Bryant was considered to be raw coming out of college, and look at how he turned out.
I also like this Holliman kid, he's a ballhawking safety. If they can coach him up and work on his tackling he could be a 7th Round diamond in the rough. This defense needs to generate A) An effective, consistent pass rush and B) TURNOVERS. We simply haven't been generating enough over the past few seasons. If we can keep putting the ball back into the hands of our offense we can bury teams by scoring loads of points. Guys like Holliman and Golson have the ability to be ballhawks something we haven't seen from our secondary in quite some time.
