| Steelers' William Gay fined for wearing purple cleats in honor of mother
October 28, 2015

Steelers cornerback William Gay was fined by the NFL for wearing purple shoes in the Steelers’ 23-13 loss in Kansas City on Sunday.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Gay wore purple to represent his mother, who lost her life in a domestic violence incident.
Jerrold Colton, Gay’s agent, tweeted the news earlier today. Colton said the fine was $5,797, the sum for a uniform code violation.

After Heyward just settled up with the league, props to Gay and Williams going forward with their tributes
As far as what is really important, meaning how can the league monetize a "tribute" by selling more NFL branded gear, we now move on from selling pink gear for breast cancer awareness month to NFL Salute To Service month

| People need to realize that the NFL could give a crap about breast cancer awareness. The whole thing has only one reason - to attract more female fans, which = more $$$. Sorry to say it but Goodell and the NFL don't care about anything but lining their pockets with more cash.
If they really cared about cancer awareness or anything, they wouldn't have fined Heyward in the first place. | |

If they really cared about cancer awareness or anything, they wouldn't have fined Heyward in the first place. absolutely! Don't forget the only reason they honor veterans at NFL halftimes is because the government is paying them to do it.

Cornerback William Gay (shoulder) returned to practice and was a full participant. … Defensive end Stephon Tuitt (knee), safety Will Allen (ankle) and quarterback Mike Vick (hamstring) did not practice.
