I didn't see anything said about this. I just read that he was signed to the active roster. Read more here:

Good, let's stick some of our depth at CB out on the field and see what these guys can do. We need a god damn CB who can cover. That's all I want, just ONE CB who can actually cover a receiver, bat down a pass without a penalty, etc.

We have great hitters on our team but we completely lack a cover corner that can shadow a receiver and force a QB to go elsewhere.

Grant is somebody that other teams were looking to sign off the practice squad, so they activated him to the 53.

He will be needed next season considering that Blake, Gay, Boykin are all in the final year of their contracts and Allen appears done in Pittsburgh. Grant is a good football player and I am happy they are keeping him.

Want to see what he can do, it sounded like he had a good training camp. Though barring injury he probably won't have a chance to see the field until next year

I saw him in a few Ohio St games on TV, I watched his week of practice in Mobile at the Senior Bowl and I watched his workout at the combine on NFLN. IMO, Doran Grant is a well built DB with good technique, decent speed, that plays man, plays zone and will tackle. Could transition to safety like other OSU guys before him like Roby and Jenkins.

You are probably right that he wont see much field until next year though.
