Who's actually gonna watch the Patriots*** game?

But I'm a true fan and I'll subject myself to it like I did last year when Vick and Jones played. Although I fully expect this to be extra painful as in I wouldn't be surprised if the Cheatriots slap up a 60 burger urghhhhhhh

They all don't want to admit he's a cheat (yes I believe he is even if others don't) but again its the same exact blowhards that do the same with Rodgers. They dream up all the excuses in the world to say hes still amazing when in actuality he's pretty good just not THAT good.

I hate Cheatriots just as much as anyone but this isn't the Super Bowl or AFC Title game so let's all just get ready for Ravens week in 3 weeks when 7 returns!

I'll be watching. Got a friend and his birthday is the same day. Yes he's a Patriots* fan, but is a good friend and our friendship is much bigger than one game.

Of course I will be watching! I've watched every game I could during the 85', 86', 88', 91', 98', 99', and 2003' seasons. What did those years have in common? The Steelers had losing records. I am far from a bandwagon, fair weather fan and I am not going to start being one now! I still have much faith in our Steelers! Its not like the 80's or early 90's when everything was lopsided. The parity in the NFL has increased ever since the salary cap was implemented in 1994.

I'll watch, but if it gets to blowout point I'll change it, no sense in watching then.

I'll be watching but I got a feeling its going to be closer than anyone realizes.

Oh I did too (at least from 91' on), but there hasn't ever been a team/player in the history of the NFL that I hate more than NE and Brady. It's gotten to the point where I didn't watch the last 2 SB's the Patriots** were in. I did watch the replay of the one they lost though, just because I knew I'd take pleasure from seeing that.

If Shazier and Heyward play and Landry Jones plays mistake free, i could actually see the Steelers winning this game.

Bellicheck  might be thinking. No Ben...we won't even have to cheat.  This could very well be a trap game for them. I would watch it anyway because it will be on here. I will record it too but if we get blown out I will delete it. Watching us get beat live is one thing. Keeping it so I can torture myself is just wrong.

First, plain and simple you're 100% right. If you're a fan of the team its ride or die no matter who's on the field.

Having said that, I do see the other side of it due to the fact that we're playing the Cheatriots and pretty much everyone outside of that shithole fan base known as New England despises/hates Brady and they don't want to watch him run up the score which I personally think will happen.

Regardless, I will watch it just like I suffered through the pasting in Philly and the debacle in Miami; I lasted until the clock hit 00:00 in the 4th quarter.

I'll watch I like pain.

I will never be able to understand it from the other side.  My fandom is like a marriage:  for better or for worse, richer or poorer, good health and in bad, and to death do us part.  I will watch every game that I can (I've taken radios to family Christmas and made plans on international trips to watch the game).  Why be a fan if you can't root for them when things get rough?  Having Ben out for a few weeks is hardly a struggle.  So what it's the Patriots**?  Did anyone think that Eli and the Giants stood a chance against them?  

I just will never understand someone being a coward and not watch a game because they don't think winning is possible.

it's not an issue of cowardice, i guess i look at football as entertainment. when it stops being entertaining i say fuck it and do something else fun, like go surfing lol

on the flipside i never understood the point of watching a game when it's already well out of reach (like the philly game) till the end. you're not getting paid to watch, you're not a member of the team, you really have no stake in the outcome of the game. Matter of fact, we're investing our money and time into something that means jack sh*t in the grand scheme of things. Hence why I turn the game off when it's no longer entertaining or interesting. It's like paying for a shit sandwich. F that, if i'm going to invest time and money I better be getting something worth it, or I'll spend my resources elsewhere.

With that said, steelers for life. But I guess the game itself to me is nothing more than just pure entertainment and nothing else.

I have an athletic background. I've been on good teams and I've been on bad teams. I always gave as much effort on the good teams as I did the bad ones. I was loyal to the team and put in the time to be committed. I often paid to play these sports, to be entertained. I would never allow something to get between me and my loyalty to the team, no matter how much the cards would be stacked against winning that game.

To me, I wouldn't deserve to get to enjoy a Super Bowl win if I didn't give my 100% during the season. Again, it's just my two cents and how I choose to view it. People can do what they want (their choice) and I can view them how I want (my choice).

Like I said, huge difference between playing for the team, and watching the team. I also come from a similar background and always put 110% into everything if I played for the team. Playing for the team is a commitment in itself and I agree. Watching sports, on the other hand, is entertainment.

I categorize entertainment / games as in the category of stuff to put down when it stops becoming fun. I guess everyone's different in that aspect, but I'm not one for self torture

In any case, I do this out of necessity. I've gotten in fights, kicked out of bars, and thrown into drunk tanks over Steeler losses. I used to take the game way too seriously and over half the fights i've gotten into in my life were from people talking crap about the Steelers. Eventually i had to look at how ridiculous it all was and not take it that serious anymore.

You nailed it! That is exactly how I have always felt over these past 35 years. Its embarrassing to know that we have so-called Steelers' fans out there running their mouth about not watching the game, because they think we have no chance of winning. I may be wrong, but I don't remember ever meeting any Steelers fans throughout the 80's, 90's, and even 2000's who acted like sissies. I remember all the fans I met were just happy to see our Steelers play on Sundays no matter what. Please don't tell me we have a bunch of fair weather bandwagon fans that have jumped on board recently. I see that enough up here in Washington with Seattle's fan base.
