| Would the Steelers rescind the franchise tender for Le’Veon Bell?
there is till a 3rd rd comp pick to be had for bell. would pulling the offer negate that pick ?

| Report: Final Le’Veon Bell offer had $10M fully guaranteed
Posted by Josh Alper on July 17, 2018
When a report of a Steelers offer of five years and $70 million to running back Le'Veon Bell surfaced on Monday, there was no word of how much of that money was fully guaranteed.
Bell’s agent Adisa Barkari didn’t say in a Tuesday radio interview, but said the total value didn’t matter nearly as much as how much of the contract was fully guaranteed. According to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, there wasn’t a lot of it guaranteed in the Steelers’ final offer.
Rapoport reports that a $10 million signing bonus was the only fully guaranteed portion of the contract. He adds that Bell stood to make $33 million over the first two years in a “rolling guaranteed structure” and $45 million over the first three years of the deal.

Take your greedy ass whore self to whatever low level team with an obnoxious amount of cap room will allow themselves to be held captive over a ridiculous contract where you'll never win another damn thing because you wanted more than the team could afford! _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!

| Steelers' fans overwhelmingly support pulling franchise tag off Le'Veon Bell
By: Curt Popejoy
Pittsburgh Steelers’ fans have spoken and they have made it clear. If running back Le’Veon Bell doesn’t show up to training camp, they support the front office rescinding the franchise tag.

| Todd Gurley just signed a 4 year, $60,000,000 contract with the Los Angeles Rams, including $45,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $15,000,000. | |

Ouch. That is a lot of money. The only upside is Gurley is only 23 and doesn't have a lot of mileage yet.

| If the Steelers indeed offered Bell a contract with only $10M guaranteed it's only logical he didn't sign it. I'm not in favor of giving Bell a hugh contract because of his age and I absolutaly hate his social media antics, but we have to admit that Bell has outplayed his previous contract and that he deserves a big contract based on his present and past performances. So I understand both sides on this negotiation, Bell never had a big contract in his life and he definitely deserves one but the Steelers do the smart thing not being the one giving it to him. Although $10M guaranteed is really low for a player like Bell and they could have given him more guaranteed money without hurting the team (around $25M for the next 2 years). | |

Bell gets "only" a 4 game ban for his next strike and a 10 game ban for his second. I don't know where the media came up with the story that he gets a year suspension for his next strike. Because his last suspension was reduced to 3 games, he only can get a maximum ban for 4 games for his next strike.

As I said in my previous post, Steelers do the smart thing not giving him the big contract. That being said, I don't think he's greedy as he deserves his big contract. And I'm sure if he stays healthy this season some team will give it to him at the end of the year. Don't forget that except for last year, he really didn't make any money. People always want their top players to take team friendly contracts, but they often forget that those players were really cheap their first years on their team. From 2013 to 2016 Bell earned a total of less than $4M in total. That's peanuts compared to how he performed, even with his suspensions and injuries. With the franchise tag of 2017 and 2018 that's a total of $30M in 6 years so $5M/year. That's still cheap for how good he played. For a 6 year, $30M contract we got a 3x pro-bowler, 2x first-team all-pro and a second-team all-pro (and a pro-bowl and all-pro is still possible in his 6th year). No wonder, Bell wants and deserves a big contract somewhere. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsburgh-steelers/leveon-bell-12329/cash-earnings/

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsburgh-steelers/leveon-bell-12329/cash-earnings/ The offer they made him was pretty good IMO. Gurley will make 15 mil this year. Bell 14.5. Gurly hasn't been in any trouble that I know of or had knee problems. How much is enough for a player who has issues?

I understand. Bell is probably the best right now but this is year 2 of this B.S. It's wearing thin. When they guaranteed Gurley's money I'm pretty sure there was no downside in the way of off field issues or previous injuries. Let's play GM. Would you give Bell 45mil guaranteed? I wouldn't.

| Bell is the product of the o-line who hold blocks and he pick the holes won't find to many o'lines in the NFL that can do it. another player made by the Steelers. Gurley is the better RB of the two. | |

Being a Steelers GM, I wouldn't. Because of Big Ben's contract, Big Ben's experience, other big contracts and the limited cap space it wouldn't be worth it. But when being a GM of a team with a young QB that still has to earn his big contract in 3 or 4 years time, I would. Teams like the Texans (don't know if they have some cap space, but Watson/Bell would be an awesome combo), Browns, Jets, even the Titans with Mariota could use Bell very well to take pressure of their young QB. That being said, I absolutaly hate Bell's social media antics.

| Let's see what the Rams can afford in two more years. Paying Gurley like that is going to make someone else unhappy. A huge paycheck like that, IMO, means the team may be competitive for a year or two but eventually they won't be able to keep key players. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available! | |
