Matt Canada wasn’t brought in to be the quarterback’s coach for long last season. He was brought in to help develop the young depth behind Roethlisberger as well as add some new wrinkles to the offense. That was apparent when the offense started using a lot of motion at the line of scrimmage, as that was a constant in his college offenses.

It seems likely that Canada is either the Steelers offensive coordinator next year or he is accepting a job elsewhere. The Steelers would be wise to promote him though, as his offense seems like one that could aid in a young quarterback’s development.

His smart schemes and quarterback friendly system would be a big boost for this offense, especially after Roethlisberger retires. Looking long term, he could even be a head coaching candidate down the road. The offensive-minded, quarterback friendly coordinators have found a home as NFL head coaches. With Mike Tomlin’s tenure as a head coach likely ending close to when Roethlisberger’s career does. Don’t be surprised if Canada is considered to replace him. That said, the first step is promoting him to offensive coordinator, something the team would be wise to do this offseason.

Kevin Colbet contract up after 2021 season and his talk of retirement Ben close to retirement there might be some big changes for the Steelers after the 2021 season. a new player personnel guy and a new headcoach working together with the same football philosophy on players and type of offense and defense systems the Steelers might want to build on going forward.

l'm not saying everything happening after the 2021 season but could happen as a domino effect new players personnel guy Tomlin helps to get him up to speed in his new job for a year or two also with Canada as OC then hands the headcoaching job to Canada. Tomlin moving up to a front office job for a team.

There is definitely a domino effect here. Ben, Colbert, and Tomlin are linked at the hip. I think when Ben goes, Colbert will retire. If we bring in a new GM, the new GM would want to bring in his own coaching staff as well.

I think it is long past time to clean up in the organization. This means hiring from outside to bring in fresh, new ideas.

As much as we keep saying Tomin "NeVeR HaD a LoSiNg SeASoN", his playoff record over the past 10 years speaks louder than those words. Playoff Record

Tomlin is fairly young, especially considering how long he's been coaching. He may well decide to continue coaching another 10 or 15 years. If he does, its likely it will be as a Steeler.

I'd personally love to see Matt Canada move up to OC next year - in fact I expect it. Fichtner has to see the handwriting on the wall, he's done as soon as the season ends - likely within days.
