Dwayne Haskins to start Friday, vie to solidify spot on Steelers' roster

Haskins, competing for a roster spot in Pittsburgh, was given the starting nod for the Steelers' final preseason game against the Panthers, coach Mike Tomlin said Wednesday.

"Excited about giving him an opportunity to see some reps against Carolina's first group," Tomlin said.

last game imho rudolph looked a bit more polished then haskins this time get to see haskins against first string players hope the open the playbook in the game.

It'll be fun to watch and see how he does. I want to see Sexton returning some kicks too.

hasn't it always pretty much been standard procedure for teams to not give many starters playing time for the final preseason game ?

I hope Dwayne has a great outing.

Actually, I hope he and Joshua both play well (leading to the Steelers trading Mason, but probably wishful thinking).

Dwayne has some mobility, which is nice. Not as much as Josh but he can move the chains with his legs on occasion.

Looking forward to the game - and even more forward to the start of the season.
