Fast Willie Parker is going back to college.

West Virginia Wesleyan announced Monday that the former Steelers running back has been added to the college's coaching staff. He'll reportedly work as an assistant on the Bobcat's offense.

Parker signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2004. In his second season, he won the starting job over Jerome Bettis. Parker rushed for 5,378 yards in six seasons with the Black and Gold. In Super Bowl XL against the Seattle Seahawks, he ran for a 75-yard touchdown, the longest rushing play in Super Bowl history.

In 2007, Parker suffered a broken right fibula in a game against the Rams. He returned a year later, but injuries continued to sideline him. Parker was replaced as the Steelers feature back by 2008 first-round pick Rashaard Mendenhall and was released by the Steelers after the 2009 season. He later signed with the Washington Redskins, but he was released during final cuts heading into the 2010 season.

At least he had probably the best run of his career on one of the biggest stages of football. He is a classic case of a mediocre guy that had a great season when we needed it to help us win a title.

Parker was a talented running-back. I don't care what anyone says. He went downhill after his injuries. Case and point.

i dont know if was injuries, talent or horrible o line that lead to willies demise. probably a little of each i would think. i am glad to see him doing something positive after football. i hope his 75 yard superbowl record holds forever......unless another steeler breaks it Willie Parker Joins Wesleyan Football Staff 1797695198
