I think a lot of his issues last year were with him being too nervous, and shying away from contact. He's bulked up a little bit this year to help with the contact issues and durability. I think he's going to be an asset to this team, I might be wrong, and he could very well go the other way and not be on the roster next season but I have a good feeling about the kid.

I kinda see that too, he's straight line fast but not really quick. for a RB or slot wr quick is more important imo

Same thing can be said about almost every rookie. Let's see if he starts to play with more speed this year, with the game slowing down for him.

If he can use his speed to cut the corner on 3rd and 4 to go and pick up 5 yards,
than that's what we need. Run game still rules in this pass happy league.

Todman is the end of Josh Harris (who was cut already).

Dulac is correct though. If Archer can develop into a top flight kick returner (see Dante Hall, Dave Megget, and Eric Bieniemy), it will have been worth the pickup.

i still think archer can find a niche as a slot receiver, if he's shown anything so far, he's shown that he's got hands

Speed, good hands, elusiveness, dangerous kick returner, weapon out of the backfield......I've heard  about all of these football talents that Dri Archer has.

Honestly, I can't remember seeing any of these "significantly" in the time he's been here.

Long kick or punt returns....I don't remember any.  Speed he has....displayed it at the combine.
Weapon out of the backfield.....I don't remember any splash play where he turned a short dump off into a long gainer.  
I don't expect him to be a star immediately, I just want to see some big plays from him and I don't think we have seen enough in the one season and two preseasons he's been on the team.
I'm sure some will remember one or a few, but I don't count him as a dangerous weapon yet.....especially for a 3rd round pick.

A kick returner is all I could see him end up being. Antonio Brown is just so damn good at returning kicks. Hes patient and has some quick moves to make teams miss tackles so far I see none of that from Dri, and no improvement from last season to this pre season. I did see Dri TRY to return a couple of kicks but he was literally dragged down by his feet every time.

AB needs to teach him some of those karate moves.

Their gonna have to use his speed and start sending him deep because he sucks on those runs out of the backfield, catches short passes but sucks on yards after the catch.

What I found amusing was during the pregame chatter, Collinsworthless and Michaels mentioned that Belicheat was concerned about how the Steelers would use Archer. He dressed, but I don't think he played a snap.... unless I missed one.

Waste of a 3rd round pick. Doesn't contribute on kick return, or offense. Could use Justin Ellis instead of him right about now.

I think Archer would excel in the slot, I'd be up for putting him in at that spot over DHB who at this point in his career, won't progress any further than what we've seen.

They HAVE to have some sort of plan on using him on offense, I don't believe they would use a 3rd rounder on a kick return specialist. Don't like 80% of kickoffs end up as touchbacks anyway?

On offense, there weren't many surprises, but Dri Archer's 3 snaps out of 11 situations makes you wonder what the team's plans for him might be. The Steelers are using a roster spot on a player who's turning into a special teams specialist in a game that essentially has eliminated kickoff returns from the offensive repertoire, and they don't use Archer on punt returns.

Archer should have been cut instead of Doran Grant. Better to admit that you have wasted a pick than possibly waste 2 picks if a team should pick up Grant from the practice squad.

He's a special teams specialist that hasn't been very good on special teams. It's hard to justify him taking a spot on the roster when he has such little value or versatility.

So when Bell comes back, who gets released? Jordan Todman, Archer or Rosevelt Nix?

Archer was a wasted pick but, I'd be shocked if he gets cut.

So either Nix or Todman.

True, but Todman can run thru gaps without being knocked over by the towel on somebodys waist.....Archer cant. Todman can also cover kick returns, Archer cant. Todman ran a 4.4 at the combine...Archer ran better.

I'm thinking they don't need 2 FB on the squad and Nix gets cut and signed to the PS, but will not be surprised if they cut Archer or Todman.

Fire Archer  Please....acknowledge the mistake and move on.
