Nice little mock. Ian Thomas might just go earlier than the 5th Round though. Guy is a very physical blocker, I could see him going in Round 3 or 4 if a team really likes him. He's a Baltimore native and the Ravens may need a TE, I could see them having an interest in him as well.

Could very well be the case. Maybe the Ravens will pick up a TE earlier (2nd round or so). I remember when a couple of years ago they traded up in the second round in front of us to snatch Maxx Williams away. That didn't turn out very well for them Unfortunately neither for us as we got Senquez Golson

I am convinced that in round 1 we take whoever is available in this order:
Rashaan Evans Ronnie Harrison Jessie Bates

would like to see the Steelers draft Kyzir White West Virginia 6' 2" 216 ability to cover tight ends like a safety and support the run like a linebacker.

yes you do had a couple of beers checking middle round picks and over looked your post. some times I think I need a breathalyzer hooked up to my computer.
like your pick and the players you picked could fall the Steelers.

I know I said my last mock is final, but I'm going to say my WR pick in the 7th Round is a toss up between Trey Quinn, and Daurice Fountain. Fountain was impressive at the University of Northern Iowa Pro Day. His vertical jump would've been the best among WRs at the NFL combine had he been invited. He's got 4.46 Speed, and good height at 6'1". He was a bit of a one year wonder at UNI, but I think with some NFL coaching he could be a dark horse, late round pick. He will definitely be a project at the NFL level, but what better tutor than Antonio Brown who was himself, a late round draft pick.
I will say this though, both Quinn and Fountain could go earlier in the draft. I'm hoping one of them is available late.

Not the player I really want, but I think Vander Esch will be gone. This week the Titans cancelled a visit with him because they believe LVE won't be on the board when it's their turn. And they pick at 25. The Steelers met with Evans at his pro day and he might slip to us because a groin injury bothered him last season and probably wasn't fully healed at the combine.
2.28 Jessie Bates, FS, Wake Forest
It's no secret that the Steelers have shown a lot of interest, Tomlin and Colbert had dinner with him at his pro day which is usually a good sign. In a lot of rankings he's project as a 2nd-4th round pick, with the end of the 3rd as the most common spot for him to go. Steelers don't take any risk and get their first real ball-hawking free safety since the 90's. He should produce a lot of turnovers.
3.28 Richie James, WR, Middle Tennessee State
This pick will shock many people, especially drafting him this high, but the kid had a great pro day and the Steelers brought him in for a pre-draft visit. He's expected to go in the 5th, but since we don't have a 4th round pick we use a 3rd-round to get him. I think James Washington, Dante Pettis and Equanimeous St Brown (one of my favourite players this draft, I expect him to be a steal and I wouldn't mind if the Steelers would take him in round 2) will be off the board by then. James intrigued a lot of teams so he will be gone sooner than the draft experts think. James would be a great replacement for Eli Rogers this year and they need another receiver to replace Bryant in 2019.
5.11 Troy Fumagalli, TE, Wisconsin
Steelers met with him at the combine. He's a solid catcher and an excellent blocker. He works hard and he could improve our TE group. He's missing his left index finger since his birth but that never bothered him on the field.
5.28 Jordan Malaita, OT, Australia
He never played a snap of football in his life, but the end of the 5th round is where teams tend to gamble on players with great physical attributes who they can develop and Malaita fits this discription. See Brian Allen last year. He visited a lot of teams including the Steelers and I believe he will be gone before the 7th round. Munchak gets his toy he can work with.
7.02 Quadree Henderson, WR/KR/PR, Pitssburgh
Steelers get their returner here and they like to draft local players (James Conner, Jesse James) lately. Another pre-draft visit and a major improvement for our special teams. Won't contribute much as a receiver.
7.28 Joshua Frazier, NT, Alabama
A big guy who can help us stop the run. Underrated player because he was the back-up of Da'Ron Payne at Alabama which causes him to slide in this year's draft. If he could have played he probably would have a chance to go in rounds 3-5. Steelers had dinner with him at his pro day and will be more than happy if they can take him here.

c'mon Iowa ... the knocks on allens accuracy issues aren't from how well he throws a ball thru a tire. they are from his game film. 56% in 2016 and 56% in 2017.
here are some of his worst games of 2017 ... oregon 9/24...37.5% hawaii 9/19...47.4% boise st 12/27 ...44.4
only 3 times this season did he complete above 60% of his passes. and it's not like he was throwing the ball 40 times a game. he averaged 24.5 passes a game. only twice in 25 games did he throw for over 300 yds. maybe he can be coached up , but if he can't , he'll be added to the huge list of 1st round qb busts that a desperate team reached for.
i would like to take this opportuninty to admit to IowaSteelers i was wrong. he was a solid proponent for josh allen to be a steeler and i shit all over him...lol..
bit in my defense i lobbied for patrick mahomes ....

Haha that's some good memory MoP I had completely forgotten this discussion. Allen has looked pretty good for Buffalo, better than anyone else they've had for quite some years now. Will be interesting to see if he's hit his ceiling, or if he'll continue to improve.
Oh boy wouldn't it be awesome to have Mahomes in the Black and Gold.

the progress he has made over last season is astounding. the browns and jets have to be sick to their stomachs for taking baker and darnold ahead of him. but then again he may not have developed with either of them. i wanted vander esch out of that draft.

Yeah hard to say, I think a lot of these guys success or lack thereof depends a lot on which franchise drafts them. Mahomes was drafted by KC and went into a great situation and learned from a good veteran player in Alex Smith. He wasn't asked to do too much, and wasn't thrown to the wolves like Darnold was. Allen I will say has helped to elevate what was for years a laughing stock of a franchise. I think he deserves a lot of credit for their success. The Bills just need to continue building their team around him.
I too wanted Vander Esch, I got pretty irritated when Dallas took him, but in hindsight he seems to have issues staying healthy.
