Just like that, the Pittsburgh Steelers go from potential Super Bowl contenders, to the 2018 NFL Draft.

As shocking as the team’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars was in every possible way, the thought of turning our attention to the Draft might be even more disturbing. The season wasn’t supposed to end this way. Not for late owner Dan Rooney, and certainly not for injured linebacker Ryan Shazier, yet here we are.

With the Steelers officially out of the playoffs, they have solidified their spot in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh will select 28th overall in the first round of the college selection process.

I agree with their draft needs...ILB, QB, S. I just want Mike Mitchell gone. AJ Bouye was right, he doesn't do much here except talk.

So who is going to be available at 28 that has Shazier like skills set? We do need a solid safety Mitchell wasn’t getting it done who is there at 2 or 3?

I know ILB is a priority but if Sequan Barkley falls (walter football has him going #1 to the Browns. poor kid) to us we grab him. Then we trade Bell for whatever we can get. Fantasy draft but a man can dream.
In there mock walter has us picking Lamar Jackson out of Louisville. I don't see us picking him at #1.Instead Marcus Allen ( safety from Penn State) could be a good fit. This doesn't look to me like a very strong draft class at any position that we need.

I would try to get Zach Brown in FA to replace Shazier. He isn't as good of course, but he's the best we can get. Only Raquon Smith would be a better option, but I see him go in the top 10-15 in the draft.

This makes sense. He's 28 and shouldn't cost a bunch. I agree Smith will be gone unless we pull off a trade to move up and that would be uncharacteristic to say the least.
