| Don't like the backup RB position after D'Angelo. Harris is coming off injuries and hasn't done much this pre-season. Archer's value to the team hasn't been discovered yet. Like Walton and Fogg making the 53, both flashed talent and potential at times. So-so on Chris Hubbard. Cam Thomas....ugh. | |

| I'd replaced Hubbard with Finney.
I'm not sure they keep 10 LBs though. Chickillo has had some moments but he's going to need a big game against Carolina to make the 53 IMO _________________ Known as BLACK_AND_YELLOW from SF

| If they're really going to run more 4-3, the defensive line is probably going to need another body. | |

| Wouldn't have minded having Fred Jackson on the depth chart but I like the good mix of backs we have from 1 to 3. _________________ Twitter: @SteelersYak

| Alex Kozora @Alex_Kozora That doesn't mean Webb is DEFINITELY going to get the job. But it sure is a strong sign. For what it's worth, B.W. Webb was ahead of Kevin Fogg the entire preseason. Always played first, including tonight. #Steelershttps://twitter.com/Alex_Kozora | |

| Never seen so many of a potential recruitment class appear to just 'give up' before pre season ended. Should be an exciting season if this is a canary in the cave. _________________ | |

I see Tomlin as the type of guys to say not even to play and just make sure no one gets hurt. I tend to think they should be practicing for real game situations because if they dont when it comes time to do it we will get squashed, thats probably why we have been so slow out of the gate the last few years. _________________

| Wonder if the Titans will cut guard Andy Levitre?
With Munchak here maybe he would sign as a backup. Depth is needed. _________________ Known as BLACK_AND_YELLOW from SF

They'll probably also target a player like Wesley Johnson if he gets cut to replace Doug. _________________ Known as BLACK_AND_YELLOW from SF

| And Imo it's time to move on from Josh Harris. Besides that 40 yard run last year which got called back for holding he hasn't shown much.
Barner from Philly would be a nice fit if cut(Philly is stacked at RB). He also can help on ST. Has 2 punt return TDs this preseason. Sooner or later it's time to retire AB as a full time PR. _________________ Known as BLACK_AND_YELLOW from SF

Chickillo made the team. Maybe 9 DB's with the thought that Golden can cover slot WR if needed. Keeping 10 LB's possibly.

| The players the Pittsburgh Steelers released are:
Running backs Jawon Chisholm and Josh Harris, defensive linemen Matt Conrath, Ethan Hemer and Mike Thornton, safeties Jordan Dangerfield, Alden Darby and Gerod Holliman, offensive linemen Reese Dismukes, B.J. Finney and Doug Legursky, cornerbacks Kevin Fogg and B.W. Webb, linebackers L.J. Fort, Shayon Green and Howard Jones, and wide receivers Shakim Phillips and Jarrod West.
The Steelers placed offensive linemen Kelvin Palmer and Mitchell Van Dyk on the team's Waived/Injured List.
Pittsburgh also signed free agent cornerback Ross Cockrell to a one-year contract. The 6-0, 190-pound Duke University product entered the NFL as a fourth-round (109th overall) draft selection of the Buffalo Bills in 2014 and appeared in seven games during his rookie season. He was released by Buffalo last month. Cockrell will wear No. 31.
The Steelers can sign up to 10 practice squad players after 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 6.

| So Dri gets another shot to show us what he's got. I think he made the 53 only because we're so thin at RB, he was a 3rd round pick, and they still hope he has un-discovered potential. Couldn't be based on his production and what he's shown us so far. | |

http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/2015/9/5/9265647/pittsburgh-steelers-trim-roster-to-53-NFL But wasn't #31 supposed to be reserved for the 2nd coming of Ed Reed at FS?? Oh well, maybe they can get him on the practice squad. Interesting that Will Johnson and Rosie Nix both made the team. Maybe one will be cut when somebody returns from suspension or injury? I can see Finney being signed to the PS. I actually thought he outplayed Hubbard in the preseason.

I actually thought he outplayed Hubbard in the preseason. From Wexell it seems like the coaching staff had Holliman going to the PS the whole time, but we'll see. Newly signed Cockrell is now using #31. Johnson could be getting some carries at RB until Bell gets back. Nix has been a Tomlin favorite all camp. And he's good on ST. _________________ Known as BLACK_AND_YELLOW from SF

@jimwexell adding Cockrell sure seems to indicate team didn't see as much in Webb and Fogg as some observers did.
James C Wexell retweeted lake_21117
They probably remember Bowl game in which Cockrell confounded WR Mike Evans.

| Maybe the answer to our cornerback issues is to look else where as we clearly didn't draft a competent corner. Boykin and cockrell and/or maybe Allen will probably start week one, and I like the sounds of Boykin and Cockrell being in there Allen didn't look any better this preseason. I like Boykin for his ability and proven record and for Cockrell being a bigger corner who is probably better than Cortez Allen _________________ | |
