Is there still any hope for Cortez Allen?

We have him signed for 3 more years, and cutting him next season wouldn't make much sense, since the dead money cap hit would be 4 mill. I want to believe in this guy, since he started off so promising. Any reason to be optimistic that he can turn it around?

I would cut ties with him if I was calling shots. He's been horrible when he has played, and he's injury prone. Time to just let that sinking ship go to the bottom.

As usual, I'm gonna piggyback off Iowa. Gay, Boykin and Golson should be our starting CB's.

I was actually laying in bed thinking about Allen last night (no homo). There's a reason he sat on the bench, ever since he got his contract he decided to say fuck it. He's worse than Blake

It would be interesting to see if he's managed to get his brain un-fucked while riding pine, because his physical abilities are perfect for a CB. If it happened, it would be a complete 180° turn around from his lost in space tendencies.

They put Blake on the field.....I would not rule out anybody in the Steelers secondary based upon that fact alone.

I still think putting Allen on IR for a knee injury was BS, he must have done something personal to get buried in the dog house, he was DEFINATLY better than Blake.

Also, someone on another board suggested moving him to FS and Mitchell to SS. Pretty damn good idea, he has the physical tools to play safety and wouldn't need to play man.

I'm fine with that.

I just wish he would say that Antwon Blake isn't a player that can contribute in 2016 for the Steelers either. His ledger had way more negative on it than positive in 2015.

Cornerback Cortez Allen will not be on the team in 2016; he should not have been on it in 2015 after his midseason benching in 2014, months after they somehow decided he was the cornerback cornerstone of the future by giving him a five-year, $26 million contract.

It will go down as one of the worst big-money contracts in Steelers history, a monumental miscalculation of his talent and wherewithal. They paid him $5.6 million in 2015, including a $3 million roster bonus in March. He is due a salary of $4.4 million this year he will never see.

Allen played 32 snaps in the season opener and never played again, ultimately going on injured reserve (knee) Oct. 24. After that, he was rarely seen around the Steelers facility, unlike others on IR such as Kelvin Beachum and Bruce Gradkowski, who even traveled with the team.

I also heard that was the case with Golson - I get that Allen was just cashing a check, but if I was Golson I would be at the facility getting to know my teammates and learning as much as I could

He was definitely better than Blake? I think not. As poorly as Blake played at points throughout the season I think he's been infinitely better than Cortez Allen has ever been. Blake has at least made some splash plays for this team. Allen hasn't done a damn thing. Not to mention the fact that Allen is getting paid to do so much more.

In the same Tomlin presser where he said he wasn't confident Allen would be an impact player in 2016, Tomlin mentioned how Golson sat in the meetings and participated in team activities (outside of practice) such as film work. He said he thinks of Golson as a second year player in 2016 because of the work he put in with the team during his injury.

There were conversations on one of the SNR shows (can't remember who was on at the time of the comment), but one of the commentators mentioned that Tomlin decides who sticks around and who doesn't. Which means if Allen wasn't around the team this past season, he was told by Tomlin to make scarce.
