HUGE news out of Pittsburgh early this morning. Neal Huntington managed to ink both 1st overall pick Gerrit Cole and second round outfielder Josh Bell.
Josh Bell was slated by Baseball America as the best corner outfielder in the draft, but Bell had previously sent out a letter to all MLB teams telling them NOT to draft him as he was going to honor his commitment to the University of Texas. The Pirates gave Josh Bell 5 million dollars, which almost doubled the highest contact ever signed by someone post first round.
The Pirates also signed every single player they drafted in the top 10 rounds.
