Well 3 of the top four Centers are still available
JPJ Frazier VanPran-Granger
Should be able to land one of them at 51.

According to Draftek, Limmer has slipped ahead of Van Pran.

Now if JPJ falls to us that would be great. "Smash mouth baby".

Would really like to see JPJ or Frazier in Round 2. I'd maybe even consider trading up to snag JPJ. It starts in the trenches and we have to get this o-line solidified.
Something to note though, I know we badly need a C but Cooper Dejean is still available. I think he's going to go very early in Round 2 though. Surprised me that he didn't go in Round 1. Round 1 talent in Round 2... sound a little familiar?

i think either the raiders or colts snag JPJ, but frazier will be there at 51. nfl.com has the penn state center rated higher than frazier.

Honestly I kind of like the Georgia kid Van Pran as well. Doesn't seem to be getting the level of respect that guys like JPJ and Frazier are getting, but all that kid did was play well against top flight SEC competition for years. Something to be said for that. I think ideally I'd be happy with JPJ, Frazier, or Van Pran. Van Pran has a good physical mentality and the o-line coach at Georgia preaches toughness, physicality, and finishing on every play. Good mentality for playing in the trenches at the NFL level. I think if they really have their hearts set on a good young C they're going to have to either trade up or use the pick they have to take the best available C.
Definitely going to be interesting to see what they do, Khan isn't afraid to make a splash.

I also would be happy with Van Pran or even Hunter Nourzad in round 3 if JPJ and Frazier would be gone before 51.

I noticed that, too, I love DeJean! Would love to have him but I don't see us being able to snag both him and a center. But I think he's going to be a superstar.
I really like Frazier. Not that I'd be disappointed with drafting JPJ, but the problems I see with JPJ are: 1 year as a college starting center; history of concussions; and his weight can balloon (he got up to 335 lbs at the Senior Bowl). Not that this makes him chopped liver and what JPJ put on tape last year was very good.
Frazier is a 3 year starter at center. He was a 4-time high school heavyweight wrestling state champ. He has huge hands (if that matters) and brings excellent driving power on his run blocking. If you watch Frazier's film, you see he's highly motivated to finish his blocks with the defender in the dirt (similar to JPJ).
One thing I find funny when looking at the write-ups on these two players is that Frazier is knocked for having short arms and how that will hurt him in his NFL career. His arms are the same length as JPJ's and they don't mention JPJ's short arms. Coincidentally, their arm length is the exact same lengthy as Creed Humphrey
If JPJ doesn't fall to 51 and the Steelers don't go up to get him, there's an alternative who has the foundation to become a good center in the NFL. Hopefully, the Steelers are able to solve the center problem and we don't end up with chopped liver.

I really like your take on this. As a professional trainer of wrestlers, I would be very happy to see Frazier be our pick. That's a tough guy! 4X state wrestling champ, let's go!

Lots of analysts talking about Fautanu may have been the steal of the first round. That's always a nice endorsement. They said the same thing about JPJ last year in the second and it came to be true so far.
A few other articles out there from other analysts but you'll get the jist of it...

Tonight will be fascinating! Round 2 and 3, let's see who our new Steelers are going to be!
My wish list (won't get all but if we get one I'll be excited):
Zach Frazier Jackson Powers-Johnson (obviously one of these first two, not both) Cooper DeJean (he's going to be a special player for someone. long shot for us getting him but I'd love it) Luke McCaffrey (actually probably after today, he might be a 4th rounder. But brothers of studs can work out very well).

i gotta say, im kind of impressed by NFL.com's prospect rankings/ grades . they have been fairly accurate with how the draft is unfolding as far as the order of position being drafted.

Absolutely love the Frazier pick. Dude is tough. Extremely experienced. Four time state champion wrestler. Broke his leg in a game and was so tough he got himself off the field so the team wouldn't have to take a timeout. A leader on the offensive line. Told my wife this would be our pick if he was available after the Raiders took JPJ.
Awesome draft so far.
