Mitch Trubisky: Steelers ‘still figuring out’ if QB has power to change plays

Its the NFL. If you aren't giving your QB the option of changing the play at the line of scrimmage, you are Handicapping him. He's on the field and he sees openings, he should have free reign to change the play. Anything less is unacceptable.

Cut the strings off Mitch and let him play.

Unless he is being told to play conservative football by a certain Head Coach?

It seems to me that the offence looked a lot better in the preseason than they do now. They were throwing downfield as well as midrange and they were moving the ball. Doesn't make any sense to not throw it deeper now that we're in the season.

This Cleveland game, I'm not feeling good about it. I felt a lot better about the Bengals matchup in week 1.

So I guess there's talk of benching Trubisky already. Honestly its not his fault he has a retard as an OC though. Get rid of Canada then see what Mitch can do before benching him

The question is, are there players open that he's not getting the ball to them? If that's the case, and it continues and the O stinks it up, then yeah - Mitch should be benched. If not, and its completely the play calling, then someone needs to make a change with the play calling, whether its fire Canada or light a FIRE under him.

It's both.After watching Mitch last night with time to throw and still miss his target only to notice a different WR open that he didn't see tells me he's not reading the defense. JV.
We've had the most success in no huddle or hurry up so at a crucial time in the game instead of doing that Canada's calling run plays and jet sweeps.Don't get me started on the first half bubble screens that went NOWHERE
It's shame the FO doesn't use the 2 OC approach so they could pull the starter for the backup. Think about it. The FO could have already known Canada was not the guy.

Everyoneone complaining Trubsky isn't pushing the ball down field, My question is how many snaps has the Steelers offenses faced 2 deep zones? Imho as an arm chair DC coach playing the Steelers I'd be in a 2 deep defense until the Steelers running game starts beating it. Keep everything in front of you defense.

Good point. Would love to see a wider angle view, I think it would tell us a lot.
