If that's the case, then why the heck did we even trade for Boykin. Makes no sense. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!

For some reason, Boykin is buried at the end of the depth chart when he should be at least the #3 guy. Now with Grant added, Boykin just gets buried further. Hey, remember when the Steelers released John Kuhn because they wanted to keep Carey Davis?? That is what playing Blake over Boykin reminds me of right now.

Re: On the possibility of Doran Grant playing safety:
Yes. There is nothing closed on him. This is the guy’s first year and we need to take time, let him play in this system and see how he does before we make a decision on him.

| Tribe Review throws further shade on Grant's promotion being tied to depth at safety
There had been speculation, fueled by the timing of the promotion and the fact the Steelers had two of their four safeties on the injury report, that Grant might help at that position. But he said Thursday he has not taken any reps at safety since he joined the Steelers.

If the Steelers are grooming Grant for safety depth they apparently intend to do that very slowly

Yup, they want to keep Grant and Chickillo on the squad, so had to get them on the 53 so they don't get poached. Grant is a good football player and should be an asset to the secondary in the upcoming years. He's just not ready to step in as a rookie.

| Grant is a talented guy. I was surprised when he didn't make the 53 man roster originally.
I love how physical he is, and he does have the ability to play safety.
The future of the Steelers secondary is suddenly looking much better. The addition of Cockrell and Grant to a roster where they will also get back last year's second round pick Golson is a big infusion of talent. We will see if Boykin has a future in Pittsburgh, if the Steelers start playing him and sign him to a new contract.
Either way, there are a lot of new faces and more talent prowling the Steelers secondary going forward.
I've also been pleased with how Golden has played when he has been in games. Not many mental breakdowns and has been playing pretty solid. Safety is the big concern with only Mitchell and a 12 year vet in Will Allen as starters, and no other safeties under contract.
